I’m betting Tsarnaev won’t do it again.

D’ya think a bullet in the head of a perp, at the time of crime commital, would be a deterrent ?

Yes, but it is the less expensive alternative.

We’re not going to kill him because it’s a deterrent. We’re going to kill him because it’s justice.

O’Malley reacts to Tsarnaev verdict: ‘Death penalty is ineffective as a deterrent’

But very satisfactory as a retribution.

“The death penalty is ineffective as a deterrent, and the appeals process is expensive and cruel to the surviving family members".

All because of O'Malley and his liberal America hating ilk. They oppose the death penalty because they themselves have made the appeals process expensive and long, all the while being cruel themselves to the surviving family members.

The death penalty is 100% effective as a deterrent.

A dead murderer will not commit another murder.

dead = gone = good

I have read enough studies of the subject to conclude that the death penalty isn’t much of a deterrent.

One particular study, I cannot recall which one, documented a proliferation of pickpockets at a hanging for a pickpocket.

But, deterrent isn’t the idea. Punishment is. And, no recidivism is a good thing.

Flush this filth ASAP.

Agreed. The way the death penalty is implemented is not a deterrent.
The death penalty needs to be public so that potential offenders will fully understand and remember what will happen if they murder someone or commit a terrorist act.

The death penalty is NOT a deterrent.

It is an eliminator.

Seems to work rather well for them - but they don’t wait 10 years to carry it out.

‘Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said Friday that the death penalty sentence for Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was “ineffective.”’

This guy doesn’t seems like very bright. One thing for sure, the chance of repeated offence is zero with death penalty. Seems like a 100% effective deterrent to me.

Dukakis 2.0

Just like DeCommio is Dinkins 2.0.

Maybe we should update Twain’s saying on history, that it doesn’t repeat, but rhyme.

In the modern era, we just upgrade it.

and the appeals process is expensive and cruel to the surviving family members,” Mr. O’Malley said

And why is that, Mr. O'Malley?

The German saboteurs in 1942 had their SINGLE appeal heard on July 30, 1942 and they fried on August 8. The appeal happened two weeks after their trial and six weeks after they were arrested.

‘Death penalty is ineffective as a deterrent’ It's not intended to be a deterrent, but instead justice. An added bonus is the fact that recidivism rate among those executed is 0%.

Coming from war-torn Maryland, maybe O'Malley thinks more govt handouts would deter terrorism?

Survivors outraged after learning Tsarnaev's family's trip to US paid for with American tax dollars
MyFox Boston ^ | 4/24/15 / FT Posted by Impala64ssa

The family of the convicted marathon bomber is in America, on your tax dollars, and survivors are outraged after learning the news. As of Thursday, family members of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have been staying at the Hampton Inn in Revere under very tight security, just one of the things tax dollars are paying for.

FOX25's Sharman Sacchetti investigated how much this trip is costing you. Sources say these family members are being called as witnesses and not only that, at least three agencies are working around the clock to protect and transport them. This is all part of the defense team's strategy to save Tsarnaev.

While it's unclear when their flight started, we know the last part of it came through Amsterdam and landed at Logan Airport and cost nearly $2,500 per person. The cost to put them up at the Hampton Inn at the government rate: almost $200 per night, per person. And a source says at least three agencies, the FBI, US Marshal's and Revere Police are involved in constant protection.

“I think you're probably talking about $100,000 plus in that neighborhood in terms of security and out of pocket costs associated with travel,” former US attorney Michael Sullivan said. And that's just for this trip. Lawyer fees or even what all witnesses during the trial cost is still unclear.

One defense witness, Mark Spencer of Arsenal Consulting, charged $375 per hour and billing taxpayers for $150,000. Governor Charlie Baker said, “It's a federal trial, it's a federal case, the feds ultimately need to make the decisions about this.” Baker was non-committal about how resources are being used, even state ones. Sullivan told Sacchetti that while he understands taxpayer outrage, the whole point is to make sure it's done right. (Excerpt) Read more at myfoxboston.com ...

BETCHA THE BOMBING SURVIVORS DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS--- Within hours of the Boston Marathon blasts, US government officials, and Muslims, in Boston called each other to offer assistance......just in case THE MUZZIES suffered backlash or threats.

Within hours of the Boston Marathon blasts, government officials and Muslims in Boston called each other to offer assistance. These calls were the fruits of years of cultivating such relationships in an effort to ultimately prevent the very type of attack Boston experienced April 15....

Representatives from the US Departments of Justice and Homeland Security called to offer support to Muslim communities......just in case THEY suffered backlash or threats. (more on FR).

ISLAM IS ALL ABOUT TRIUMPHALISM Bostonians better prepare for the US govt subsidizing the building of a mosque close to the Boston Marathon finish line b/c Islam is all about "triumphalism"......they'll get lotsa help from Democrat Obomba, Democrat Secy of State Kerry, and the Democrats currently running Boston govt.

=====================================================

Then-US Sen Kerry's "credentials," presented to Ohaha when the Secy of State job became available.

BTW, this is the mosque where the Tsarnaev's worshipped.
