Cellphone video captured an emotional dispute on the side of the 10 Freeway in the Mid-City area last Friday between members of a funeral procession and a California Highway Patrol Officer who pulled them over.
A uniformed traffic escort was leading a procession of about 100 cars to Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills to bury family matriarch Sandra Louise Behn-Capel when they were stopped for traveling too slow on the freeway, according to Humphreys daughter Rachel Behn-Humphrey.

What an odd story. You’re right that the cop only aggravated the situation. I would have thought he grab the license plate of the lead vehicle and take it up with the director later. There was zero need for an “intervention”.
She died Slowly
Since you’re obviously not citing from the cited source in this thread you must have some other source for the detailed description. Can you tell us where to see it?
Idiot officer.
The daughter immediately sees “$” signs ..... lawsuit.
Holder’s people.
Now that the 210 runs all the way to Redlands, it's almost as slow as the I-10, with so many using it as an alternative. It does ease up a bit going eastbound, however, once you get past Pomona.
People that live out there realize just how many funerals tie up traffic...it bites. Everyone feels the need to get in on the act.
Give it a rest for crying out loud. This is not a White Supremacist website.
“I am willing to bet that daily traffic jams are caused by the same people again and again. If they start to get tickets for impeding traffic things will start to flow much better.”
In California, it’s usually an illegal who is driving “cautiously’ so as not to be stopped. But now with all of them getting driver’s licenses, who knows what’s going to happen.
Only KTLA seemed to be unable to get comment from CHP; KABC, KNBC, KCBS, KCAL and KTTV (and radio stations KFI and KFWB) all got comments, and they were all the same, you can watch the comments at the following link:
Interestingly, KFI’s interview with CHP was actually the only one to bring up the question of why the freeway is shut down during an officer’s funeral procession vs a normal citizen’s funeral - and the CHP responded in that interview that anyone can request a CHP escort on the freeway, including shutting down lanes if warranted by the procession’s size and speed.
Interesting state law survey here:
http://www.claimsjournal.com/news/national/2014/07/03/251323.htm
“CALIFORNIA: The only law California has regarding funeral processions prohibits anyone from disregarding any traffic signal or direction given by a peace officer in uniform authorized to escort a procession. Cal. Veh. Code § 2817.”
Yeah....How dare these people drive the speed limit on the Interstates???????
The point is that these good folks cannot accuse CHPs of racism in this case (which they undoubtedly would if the CHP officer was white), just abject stupidity.
Probably Erik Estrada cruising while wearing his old CHIPs costume...
“CHP Officer Chris Baldonado says that lead escort was ticketed for stopping traffic in the far right lane of the eastbound 10 when doesnt have that authority.”

Real journalists get both sides of the story, and real readers try to see past the reporter’s agenda.
But he doesn't and he didn't.
Okay, you took time to look further. Big deal. No need to get snarky. “Real-readers” my patootie.... so when are you holding classes for your expert readership of things that weren’t part of the OP thread?
I sometimes get annoyed when I’m held up by a funeral procession,
then I remember this is the last ride the deceased is going to take.
