In the past, we've had big training exercises stateside which explored (let's say) armored warfare. Eisenhower and Patton participated in a famous exercise in Louisiana prior to WWII. There is great value in this.

But rounding up and interning massive amounts of citizens across multiple US states?

Exactly what are they training FOR?

Did we intern thousands of people in Iraq? In Afghanistan? Are we intending to engage in more Nation Building any time soon?

This seems rather pointless, and ill-timed -- unless we anticipate domestic situations where concentration camps for US citizens would play a role.

I just don't like it. I do not see how this type of exercise is justified for the US Army as an arm of our foreign policy -- we would not do this in another country.

But I know some people would want to do it at home.

The only feasible scenario I can see to justify this is a biological or nuclear disaster/attack.

OTOH, never underestimate a totalitarian regime.

So the training clearly states that it is training to round up and intern thousands of Americans?

Because I haven’t seen that anywhere.

Every few years some kooky conspiracy theory goes around about how the military is training for (random doom porn scenario), and turns out to be nothing.
