Russ Feingold, the only US senator who voted against the 2001 Patriot Act, has announced he will launch a campaign to regain his seat in 2016.
Feingold, a Wisconsin Democrat, lost a re-election bid in 2010 to Ron Johnson, a Tea Party Republican. Feingold had served three terms.
In a video released on Thursday and first obtained by the Huffington Post, Feingold says that billionaires and big corporations are calling the shots and we need to get started fixing all this.
Lets fight together for change, Feingold says. That means helping to bring back to the US Senate strong independence, bipartisanship and honesty.

What you’re suffering from is a misunderstanding of what politics is. Worse, conservatives don’t even agree on what is conservative, see FR. I rest my case.
Please stay rested.
Well said.
That alone should disqualify him...
The only reason Feingold is running is because he sees Johnson is beatable...
He's gone soft on his Tea party creds...
Remember McCain-Feingold Bill? what happened to that one too? Feingold was no good for Wisconsin. Former wisconsin resident!
Unless Johnson (GOP) starts acting and voting like a conservative, Feingold may just win.
I’m sure his good friend John McCain will campaign for him.
Presidential election year. Feingold probably will.
I'll up the ante. Make all of the Congress critters live in the same co-ed dormitory while Congress is in session with no family visitation privileges. And required to eat in the dorm cafeteria. And required to use the same infirmary. Many benefits ...
1. They will grow to hate each other even more and get the job done just to get away from each other.
2. May encourage an increase in self-limiting term limits because they won't be enjoying the after-hours high life in DC as much entertaining in their private 2nd homes.
3. No worries on keeping a 2nd home in the D.C. area.
4. If the jihadis want to get 'em, this will make the job easier for them by clumping the Congress critters together in 1 spot. We can easily replace them in special elections.
Russ Feingold back again. Has he been living in CA the last few years?
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Dear Lord. NOT Feingold.
UGH.
Love it!
Johnson and scores of other Republicans were elected to stop Obama and the Left’s agenda, not “work” with them in the spirit of “bipartisanship.”
Ron Johnson supports amnesty for illegals.
A total idiot ignoring the white-black voters of his state.
Johnson is trying to pass a trojan horse border bill with Congressman McCaul/ Pete Sessions that Jeff Sessions killed.
Cornyn and Flake want a secure border apparently.
I like your thinking. Good ideas. Also, I think term limits would go a long was to lessening the corruption.
Yes, it’s disheartening and sobering to see so many people you believed to be patriots that signed up for the good fight, reveal themselves to be either co-opted, or phonies from the get-go. I would certainly put Ron Johnson in that category, along with Paul Ryan, Trey Gowdy, and my own Congressman, Ron DeSantis. But then again, I would put anybody who voted to re-elect Boehner for speaker in that category. I think in some cases, it’s a gradual process that they don’t even realize is occurring, and for others, they were phonies from the start.
The bastard misses the perks and attention. Wisconsin does NOT NEED FEINGOLD.
Yes... Ron the President has that right, but you also have the right to oppose.
That’s precisely why Feingold is running again. He smells blood in the water. He knows that WI conservatives are pissed at Johnson for becoming a RINO.
After he voted for Loretta Lynch, that sealed it for me. Russ can have the damn seat.
How do these people not get it? What happened to conviction and moral clarity?
we've got a socialist for a president, and these insipid politicians seem to be aiding and abetting this horrible agenda.
