Abandoned pet found on road with broken bones and deep bite marks
Thrown from car after being used as bait for blood-thirsty killer dogs
Somehow avoided traffic, but still broke leg and punctured lung
Rescued by two animal lovers who took £3,000 loan to pay for his surgery
Twisted dog-fighters got rid of a whippet used for baiting killer devil dogs by throwing it from a car at 50mph on a packed motorway.
The cruel owners tossed the helpless dog out the window and on to the road surface of the M56 in Cheshire after it had already been badly hurt readying blood-thirsty breeds ahead of illegal dog fights.
While it miraculously dodged oncoming traffic, the traumatised pet was left at the side of the road with serious injuries, including a broken leg, limb and a fractured lung.

I am getting the idea that this critter will be kind of a celebrity for the admittedly worthy cause of putting the kibosh on dogfighting.
If so, then it may well be worth the investment to heal it and show it (obviously doing the loving things that dogs do) to prick people’s hearts and consciences.
Not every circumstance is alike.
And you got to realize PETA is not based on extreme ideas of being humane to animals. PETA is based on a take on “animal rights” that is not just nonsense but macabre. They would rather kill than rehome a pet. Meat and fur and leather are blasphemy to them. It is “anti exploitation” and has nothing to do with sympathy for the comfort of living animals while still alive. I hope you get the idea.
I agree with every single word in your post.
Have you seen the Penn and Teller youtube video on PETA? Very interesting.
And you are right that if they could get some publicity out of this to stop the activity that led to the dog’s injuries it really could be money well spent. i.e. it’s not about this one dog.
A fool and his money are soon parted.

You seem not to have a full understanding of the motivations of pet people.
For them (and I’ve been guilty of this once or twice), the foolish thing would be to hold on to the money and just keep driving by the injured dog.
As long as the method of execution is to put them in a cage with a full grown meth amphetamine stoked half starved feral boar, then yeah, I’m with you.
I think it is cruel to cause an animal to suffer, but if one comes up seriously injured, I think the humane thing is to put it out of its misery.

Perfect. In this case, then, the folks, according to your calculus, did the right thing.
The dog is doing quite well after surgery, not suffering and no longer seriously injured.
I agree.
They did “a” right thing, at least on the surface. Their response does seem financially irresponsible, however.

My wife commented on my tears after each. It was difficult, but I know that the suffering of both ended in an instant. It was the right thing to do.

They’ve already recouped a chunk of that money through a GoFundMe site. they’ll easily get it all back.
Are you sure that graphic is large enough to relay your message?

Sorry, I forgot to preview. I thought it was small. :-)
Approx. $4500 - and a loan no less! I would say it is definitely foolish and demonstrates severely misplaced priorities. I bet these people have never done anything to help children that are victims of abuse.
I agree with you. I have a rescue dog sitting at my feet at this very moment but I am amazed how much money people will spend on medical for animals. Sorry but 3000 pds would be better spent on a sick child. That being said I hope this pup has a nice long life and brings much joy to the owners

Poor puppy. Thank goodness he was found and helped.

The bulldog has some whippet: the narrow flanks and roach back. Less weight in the rear helped him hold on to the bull/keep from getting thrown.
Hope that one is OK.
