MENIFEE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man allegedly walked across the 215 Freeway in Menifee and stabbed an 18-month-old baby while his mother and several other family members attempted to change a flat tire on their disabled vehicle early Monday, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The family-of-five pulled over on the right shoulder of the northbound 215 Freeway, just south of Newport Road, at about 1:20 a.m. Monday to change a flat tire on their 1990 Mazda hatchback. That's when 44-year-old Nicolas Lopez Garcia, who was walking along the opposite side of the freeway, crossed all lanes of traffic toward the victims.
Armed with a broken plastic freeway paddle marker, Garcia allegedly smashed the driver's side window, broke out the rear window and began stabbing the baby with the broken, jagged edge of the paddle, CHP said.
"He then reached in for an 18-month-old male child, which was seated in the back seat, and tried pulling the male child out of the car and then began using the plastic object as a weapon, stabbing the 18-month-old child," said CHP Officer Mike Lassig.

OK, the cabby was black; but you were in a black neighborhood, right? And the black cabby told you that it was dangerous for you to be there.
He wasn’t being racist, he was telling you the truth - and that truth is: There are certain neighborhoods across the country controlled and terrorized by black thugs. Just seeing your white skin is justification for violence.

No, you’re right. In his way he was telling me the area was populated with black thugs. He was also telling me, by his actions that he wasn’t one of them. that’s what I meant by painting with a broad brush. Being prepared is never wrong or racist.

Please be careful and be on guard. There are crazy people everywhere of all races. Sometimes the worst criminals are people who no one would suspect. It is OK to help people but be careful because good intentions will not keep the person you are helping from harming you.

Since the story said the man's name was "Nicolas Lopez Garcia", and since it's California, I think it is a safe assumption that the man is Hispanic.

I agree - there are some good people in every group. I had Hipanic guy pick me up on the 101 one night in a pouring rain storm. Had his whole extended family in the car but made room for me. I’ve returned the favor by picking up people on 14 in stopped cars. Usually cooks trying to get to work - they told me to come in for a free meal as well.
Had a flat once while driving in rush hour traffic out of Seattle...in the fast lane..with cement barrier on my left and 70 Mph traffic whizzing by on my right...this was in late 70s...no cell phones...no AAA...a nice Washington State Patrol officer changed it for me...hey...I was young and stupid...but attractive too

I do not consider it racist to point out facts and statistics, generally. It crosses the line when applying the stereotypes to ALL people of a category or inferring things about people due to race.
It is one thing to state that black people per capita commit more violent crimes than whites. It is something else to assume an individual black person is a criminal based on being black, or that a white person is innocent because he is white.
I did not see any comments from you that sounded racist. But it does happen frequently here.

I generally agree that the being offended card is played far too often. I love the comment one Freeper made: “I am offended that you are offended.” Liberals love to get offended over some supposed or imaginary slight.
However, there are “reasonable” boundaries of decorum and decency. When comments are aimed at things like physical features common for a particular ethnicity, like big noses or lips, those comments are degrading to everyone, make conservatives look petulant, and are ultimately insulting the Creator who will hold all men to account for their words.
I refuse to accept the left-wing vantage point that conservatism is racist. Racism is NOT part of the conservative platform. Yes, there are a lot of FALSE accusations of racism against conservatives. We do not need to turn a blind eye and go into denial when someone on this forum makes racist comments. Not everyone on FR is conservative. And we sometimes get trolls who have a goal of posting comments solely to make conservatives look bad.

Agreed. It is problematic. I suspect we may have more of a problem with liberal trolls on FR who want to smear conservatives by seeing how much of this stuff they can get away with posting. Then they can go back to their echo chamber an point out to their buddies the racists comments on FR.

I have not seen the evidence for this. However, I have seen what appears to be trolls who post outlandish comments like making fun of blacks having big lips. Such comments are petulant, unproductive, and not conservative. Maybe some of these are infiltrators. Maybe some are disenfranchised voters who have not fully embraced conservatism but have landed here by default. I’m not sure.

And in the eyes of the left, such truths are the new hate speech, if they come from you or me.
