AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Racing both a U.S. Supreme Court decision on gay marriage and legislative deadlines, Texas Republicans pushed ahead Tuesday toward putting the state at the forefront of resistance if same-sex weddings are ruled constitutional.
Nearly every Republican in the Texas House is backing a measure that would prohibit state and local officials from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Less than three weeks remain in Republican Gov. Greg Abbott's first session, and the bill must clear the House by midnight Thursday to advance.
If signed by Abbott, the bill would aim to defy the Supreme Court if it legalizes gay marriage, laying the groundwork for Texas to potentially raise new legal battles over its ability to regulate marriage licenses.
"It would certainly put the state in a position to challenge," said Republican state Rep. Cecil Bell, who filed the bill shortly after a Texas judge allowed a lesbian couple to wed despite a statewide ban on gay marriage.

The Feds can legalize homo marriage but the state doesn’t have to issue the license.
that is one of my favorite songs—it always brings tears to my eyes. In my school district in Beaumont Texas, we started every morning saying the pledge if allegiance to the US flag, followed by the pledge to the Texas state flag, and singing the first several verses of “Texas our Texas”.

AMENDMENT XXVIII
To redress the balance of powers between the federal government and the States and to restore effective suffrage of State Legislatures to Congress, the following amendment is proposed:

Section 1.
A Senator in Congress shall be subject to recall by their respective state legislature or by voter referendum in their respective state.
Section 2.
Term limits for Senators in Congress shall be set by vote in their respective state legislatures but in no case shall be set less than twelve years nor more than eighteen years.
Section 3.
Upon a majority vote in three-fifths of state legislatures, specific federal statutes, federal court decisions and executive directives of any form shall be repealed and made void.

Urge state senators and state representatives, and the people that work for them, to view it also.
Most people today don’t even know who their state legislators are. Is this surprising in light of the 17th Amendment?
Start with a simple task. Put it on your to-do list to find out who is your State Representative and who is your State Senator. Get their names, addresses and phone numbers. You will be astonished at how accessible and neighborly they can be.

Prediction:
Texas passes this law.
Kennedy creates a right to homo marriage shortly thereafter.
A lawsuit is filed once the law is enforced.
The federal courts find it unconstitutional.
It goes up through the appeals process.
The GOP candidate, by then in the middle of a general campaign against Hillary, will be hounded on this topic by a hostile press. His answer will be contorted to make him look like a “hater.” Hillary, meanwhile, skates by, given a pass by her media buddies.
Our candidate had better be ready to speak with clarity on this issue. The press will use this as a sledgehammer against him.
I believe the way this could play out is :
1) This law is passed making it illegal to pass out marriage licenses to same sex couples
2) Federal court orders Texas to pass out marriage licenses
3) Some clerks comply risking state prosecution.
4) Accused/convicted go to federal court getting law and conviction overturned.
