Lotta buzz about this in the political Twittersphere this afternoon. I cant figure out why.
The likely Republican presidential candidate will instead attend a competing event, the RedState Gathering in Atlanta, the day of the Iowa event, GOP sources in Iowa told The Des Moines Register Tuesday. A spokesman for Bush confirmed the report

The whole Iowa process is a joke. I didn't even know about this straw poll until the 2008 cycle. It is though perfect fodder for the 24 hour news stations looking for content during the summer.

This jerk isn’t even really interested in becoming the president. His only purpose here is to try to prevent a true conservative from becoming president.

I agree, unless Ted Cruz wins it this year.

From the article,
All you need to know about the bias of the author of this article, and it also should give you a hint of what the GOP-E think of Walker:
Via the Daily Caller, skip to 6:45 for Ann Coulter pushing aside all of this horse-race nonsense and urging Republicans to come to their senses by nominating a Romney/Walker ticket. What can I say? When shes right, shes right.

Bushie why don’t you skip the whole entire thing! Just go away!
To: jpl
You may be right.
imho, Jeb B. is skipping Iowa because he is way down in Iowa polls.
To: jpl
Just like Juan McCain. Hillary has probably already promised him at least an ambassadorship to be designated loser. Maybe even a cabinet post.
Romney may have been a pathetic candidate, but at least he acted like he wanted to win.

I am not sure if you read Allahpundit at HotAir but he writes stuff like that to more troll and stir things up. It is an ongoing inside joke at HotAir that Allahpundit keeps pushing RINO candidates.

Not “coward”...
Just choosing the terrain where he will make a stand.
And Iowa ain’t it.

When was that? You have to fight to win which means take off your gloves and take a swing.

Based on the general feeling of panic in Jeb’s recent comments, someone on his team knows he is in deep trouble.
Jeb however doesn’t even know if its day or night.
Jeb will loose badly in IA, NH and SC

Get back to me when he becomes an actual conservative.
He's running away from the fight because he knows he can't win.

Only when he was fighting an actual Republican.

The first debate. Plus he hasn’t played kissy face to BO like the Bush family has done to the Clintons.

Fiorina, Perry, Walker, Jindal and Bush will be at the RedState Gathering. It’s likely that they will skip the Iowa Straw Poll held about the same time.
The Iowa (Ames) Straw Poll has been just a party until this year when the Iowa GOP has tried to make it serious. Kudos to RedState for keeping this goofy local Iowa event minor.
