Barky’s Fundamental Transformation
It’s not that its become less Christian, there’s more mussies coming in ... which reminds me, how dare those mussies demand crosses be taken down at a Catholic college!
If America were a Christian nation, Barack Hussein Soetoro Odinga Dogeater Soebarkah 0bama would not be President.
Juan McPain and Willard M. R0mney wouldn’t be President either.
Actually the cause predates bh0 and the influx of muslims. It goes back to the progressives of the 1920s and 30s and their children of the boomer generation who preached secular humanism and communism in liberal newspapers and the colleges, with Columbia University being one of the leading centers of inequity.
Define Christian. In this context maybe it’s a good thing. Used to be people thought christian was just another word for American.
Washington (AFP) - The United States is becoming a little less Christian, and a little more unaffiliated to any faith, a major study on the nation's changing religious landscape suggested Tuesday.
"The United States remains home to more Christians than any other country in the world," with 70.6 percent of its population, or 173 million adults, identifying as Christian last year, the Pew Research Center said.
But that figure is down from 2007 when 78.4 percent called themselves Christian, Pew said in its 200-page study, titled "America's Changing Religious Landscape."
What has happened is the the children of the old Protestant Establishment, which was still in place in 1960, have now become the Deists that they say the Founders were. Except Jefferson thought of Christian morality as the highest form for morality. Which is why he attended the Sunday school classes held in the Capitol. That and to prove that he was not, as some claimed, an atheist.
People can’t afford to be religious unless they are on welfare. The Feds take every penny they can, and there is simply nothing left for tithing or otherwise supporting local community.
From what I’ve read, self reported weekly church attendance is around 40% of the US. Actual weekly attendance based on butts in seats is probably around 20%. My personal guess is that believing Christians, who actually read their Bibles, is no more than 10%.
I sometimes watch old westerns. It is fairly common for someone to say something like, “You need to ask God to forgive you...” or “You may not understand what God does, but you can trust Him to do right...”. That was prime time TV in 1960. My favorite was when a character told another, “You haven’t done everything you can do until you’ve prayed to God! Get on your knees, boy!”
I don’t expect to ever see Prime Time TV reflecting those values again...
:>(
Sunday is family day not church day. They give to causes like St. Jude's Hospital or Golisano hospital here in NYS rather than a church.
And us old folks don't like a rock concert in church. The reverence is gone.
And so there it is....there are plenty of good, family oriented Christians. They just have their own schedule.
“U.S. has become notably less Christian, major study finds”
Ya think? Thanks PEW Research for pointing out the obvious. Abortion on demand, the normalization of homosexuality, sex, drugs, moral relativism, fake christianity, anemic churches, etc. In other shocking news, the sky is blue and the surface of the sun is hot, I mean really hot.
True Christianity has always existed as a remnant of whatever religion predominates a given land. It seems only when the church is persecuted is when it thrives.
many of this surveys are deliberately inaccurate.
ie “orthodox” is dumped into the jewish faith because of the orthodox jewish faith without consideration to the eastern orthodox faith.
ALSO it is quite the fashion to LIE to survey takers.
The immoral left is just giddy over this overblown, over-reported story.
They must be peeing all over themselves.
Oh, wait......
I’ve become MORE Christian! And I’m HAPPY!
Explains a lot.
It used to be that most Americans identified with Christianity. Now it’s becoming more apparent who is truly Christian vs those who are only social Christians. As the divide becomes more apparent, the social pressure to appear Christian has given way, and people of both extremes are showing their true colors.
Matthew 13:24-30New King James Version (NKJV)
The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares
24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares? 28 He said to them, An enemy has done this. The servants said to him, Do you want us then to go and gather them up? 29 But he said, No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.
