Complaint says crosses at Catholic school offensive, prevent Muslim prayers, reads the headline at BeliefNet.
Its one of those headlines that sounds like a bad joke, but it isnt. Its not exactly a serious complaint, either, and it isnt coming from actual Muslim students in any event. Baffled Catholic University officials say they have never received a complaint from any of the schools Muslim students, writes BeliefNet.
In fact, the university expressed its bafflement in a full-length statement: Catholic Universitys faithfulness to our Catholic tradition has also made us a welcome home to students of other religions. No students have registered complaints about the exercise of their religions on our campus. We understand that a professor unaffiliated with Catholic University has made public allegations claiming that we are discriminating against our students on religious grounds, but we have not seen any legal filing and will respond to them if we do.
The sixty-page complaint was filed with the Washington, D.C. Office of Human Rights by a one-man nuisance-lawsuit factory, George Washington University Law School Professor John Banzhaf. Muslim students are but pawns in Banzhafs game against Catholics. Taken to its logical conclusion, his lawfare would wipe out mosques and Islamic learning centers as well. The rules of engagement in the Establishments War on Religion have a funny way of changing to accommodate Islam, however, so perhaps those hypothetical logical conclusions will never be reached.
Banzhafs complaint alleges that the large amount of Catholic imagery draping the halls of Catholic University creates an offensive environment in which Muslims are intimidated out of proper reverence for their own religion.
He further alleges the university does not provide space as other universities do for the many daily prayers Muslim students must make...

Meant t say be every where
Liberals have taught them that you need only challenge conservatives and they’ll fold like a cheap suit.
This is karmic retribution for admitting muslims in preference to normal people.
They’ve learned that yelling “racist” does just that.
That’s why they use it all the time. It works.
We have to make it NOT work.
Muslims have a right to be offended the same as everyone else.
They have no right not to be offended
They’re behind the curve if they’re just “offended”.
The new word from the left is that any disapproval or criticism of behavior or belief is a “threat”.
Agree!
Here is the approach I use:
“It is RACIST to impose SLAVE WAGES on LEGAL Immigrants and Minorities, by flooding the labor market with ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.”
“Why would you promote gay ‘marriage’ when that’s offensive to Muslims?”
Spell check has too much power ...
Yes, I loved Rush’s promotion of this, as it leaves businesses an out that the libs and the MSM won’t touch.
“Oh, If I did that Muslims might be offended and retaliate.”
This is happening at the Salvation Army stores in Chicago. They used to play hymns, some of which included praise for Jesus Christ. Muslims complained and the PC Christians caved. Now they play hip-hop.
This is the third time he’s sued the university.
He sued them when they instituted same-sex only dorms, and made a previous complaint about lack of space for muslims to pray.
In neither lawsuit did any students come to him as plaintiffs.
He has an axe to grind and is an ambulance chaser.
Just as long as the University doesn’t cave!
Sorry to hear that about the Salvation Army.
This issue came up a couple of years ago at Georgetown (a Jesuit university.) In a rich vein of irony, the campus Rabbi, the Muslim chaplain and one of the Muslim professors strongly supported the crosses in the classrooms; the Jesuit leadership were uncomfortable with them.
Entire story:
Speaking at a conference on campus religious life, Imam Hendi said that as a Muslim he had "no difficulty in working in a classroom where there is a cross". He added: "In fact, I am ready to put up a fight to make sure the cross stays in place!"
Georgetown, the first Catholic university in the US, is also the first Catholic university to hire a full-time Muslim chaplain.
Readers will recall that at Georgetown between the years 1996 and 1999, students of numerous different creeds, ethnicities and backgrounds came together in support of placing crucifixes in Georgetown's classrooms as a way to reaffirm the Catholic identity of the Jesuit university. Most classrooms lacked crucifixes in 1996.
The effort was led by the Georgetown University Committee for Crucifixes in the Classroom. This student committee had received support from non-Christian students and faculty members as well.
"The crucifix reminds us of the idea of suffering and how we can come to God through suffering. We should have crucifixes in the classrooms", said Rabbi Harold White.
Muslim Professor Maysam al-Faruqi said, "If having a crucifix in every classroom will help Catholics strengthen their faith, then we should have two in each classroom, not just one".
The students -- who also gained the support of Cardinal James Hickey and the late Cardinal John O'Connor in their argument with the university administration -- eventually prevailed, and in 1999, crucifixes were in all Georgetown classrooms.
The response should be;
“Are we less accommodating of Muslims than Muslims are of Catholics at a Muslim University?”
