Franklin Graham: 'Draw Muhammad' event went too far (what happened to FG?)
WND ^ | Cheryl Chumley

Franklin Graham, one of the world’s best-known Christian evangelists and the head of the nonprofit Samaritan’s Purse, said in a Wednesday morning Fox & Friends interview the “folks in Garland were wrong” to hold their “Draw Muhammad” event. ”

As a Christian, I don’t like it when people mock my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” he said. “What this event was doing in Texas was mocking Islam. I disagree with [them].” Graham said today’s society is lacking in civility and the “folks in Garland were wrong” to further that tone. “I think we need to show respect and civility,” he said.

“We need to respect one another … and those that believe differently [from my faith], I’m not going to mock them.”

I wonder if he feels that Samaritan's Purse would lose donations if he told the truth.

Franklin usually speaks the unvarnished truth...but here he fails.

Freedom (of speech and otherwise) is not free.

Yo, Rev, you’re sticking up for a pedophile. What kind of Christian are you? Did Jesus not say “For whoever shall lead a child into sin better that he tie a millstone around his neck and drown himself in the sea’’? You’re whacked dude, give it up. You’re no Christian.

When you read the whole thing it is overall good. He is saying it is not the christian thing to do, to mock someone’s faith. I don’t think that was her point, but if it was, he has a point. Not a big deal.

OK.

But do you riot, or try to kill people, or blow up their homes, or rape their wives and daughters, or torture them?

No?

I think it would be too far for Franklin Graham to host that event. Franklin is running missionary programs and he needs to be respectful and shouldn’t be mocking other religions.

The promoters of the event were trying to protect free speech. Which is an admirable goal. And one of the greatest threats to free speech is the Islamic approach to blasphemy laws. So it’s not surprising that they chose to cross the line of what Islam would condemn.

I think there is room for both, but shouldn’t be led by the same team.

“As a Christian, I don’t like it when people mock my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” he said.

Yeah, but did you go to the events of those participants with loaded weapons to threaten the lives of those who have ‘mocked your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ’?

Get a grip, Rev!

“I think we need to show respect and civility,”

Fine, except for: Convert or be beheaded. Convert and be beheaded.

'They' don't seem too concerned about showing respect and civility to those who are not members of Islam. We infidels, that is.

Yes, the “Draw Mohammed” event was obnoxious. So what? Sometimes SNL goes too far, too. Once someone has been murdered (or almost murdered) for merely being obnoxious, it becomes inappropriate to remark that the would-be victim/victim had been acting obnoxiously.
