Germany subsidizes sale of four warships to Israel

May 11 Israel bought four German-made corvette warships on Monday to help secure its Mediterranean gas rigs, with Berlin heavily subsidizing the deal, Israel's Defence Ministry said on Monday.

The ships, worth 430 million euros ($480 million), will be built by Thyssen Krupp and delivered within five years, providing significantly more fire power to Israel's navy.

The German government will pay 115 million euros towards the cost. As part of its atonement for the Nazi Holocaust, Germany is committed to Israel's security and has often helped pay in the past for the cost of military equipment such as submarines.

Thyssen Krupp also committed to buy 700 million shekels ($181 million) worth of Israeli goods under the contract.

"The deal signed today is an event of the utmost significance that dramatically upgrades the navy's capabilities of defending the State of Israel's strategic sites in the gas realm," Defence Ministry director-general Dan Harel said.

Israel's economy would also be buoyed, he added.

Israel has huge and mostly untapped gas fields that cover some 23,000 square km (9,000 square miles) of sea -- more than Israel's territory on land.

Israeli planners see possible sea-borne or rocket threats to gas facilities from Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon and Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, making expanding the naval presence a priority for them.

Israel's navy chief, Admiral Ram Rotberg, said in a separate statement that the corvettes would be classed as "Saar 6" missile boats -- suggesting a major improvement in capabilities.

If you want to be consistent, China, NK and SK should all get cash.

What about those who disagree with Israel’s policies? should that affect them getting subsidies. I dont think so.

Yes. All three should get reparations.

Which 2 out of the 3 will use to attack Japan, and eventually the US.

Kind of a steep price to pay to make up for something a bunch of dead people did.

could be in the form of monitored food aid?

geez, at least an apology.

he did apologize to Americans which was good.

you’re right. giving money to china or NK is crazy.

I hate that japan got to be so cruel to people and pain no price. all the Germans that did damage are dead but the Germans are still doing the right thing.

forget any aid lol. they would never distribute it right.

they apologized to us I’ll take it :)

If it would lessn tensions in that area, an outreach to China would be good. But you’re right again. The Chinese are going to do what they want so what’s the point.

And Israeli aid helps us out too in the long run.

you win lol

The current, bankrupt and impossible solution, the “Two State Solution” is none other than the warmed over, reheated, microwaved and roasted, 1947 Partition Plan for Palestine put forward by the UN in 1947.

The Arabs (yes, now they call them Paleostinians) rejected COMPROMISE then, and they reject compromise now. Nothing has changed except that Israel, who know how to make Peace have done it with Egypt and Jordan. All 3 are now faced with Jihad.
For the Jews of Israel, the “Two State Solution” being peddled by unrealistic amatures, is the Final Solution for them

The Palestinians are to certain arab countries what American blacks are to the democratic party.

a useful bunch of idiots who get nowhere, don’t recognize their enemy and cause violence too often.

Here is an article with more information. The graphic is that of a Meko 100 similar to the Polish Gawron class.
