Using USAID’s ForeignAssistance.gov Web site, one can drill down to individual programs in Afghanistan year after year. For basic education in Afghanistan, the number is about $100 million annually. Adding higher education boosts the spending about $30 million a year. For instance, in 2012 and 2013, the total spent on education in Afghanistan was $128.6 million and $115.1 million, respectively.
Now let’s compare that to the federal spending for the city of Baltimore. According to city budget documents, the federal contribution to Baltimore schools was $184.8 million in 2012 and $169.3 million in 2013. (Most of the more than $1.2 billion budget comes from state and county funding sources.)
The contrast was even greater in 2011: $95 million for Afghanistan schools and $265 million for Baltimore schools. That’s because the 2009 stimulus bill bolstered funding for schools for several years.
Moreover, in the period the United States spent $104 billion overall on Afghanistan, the United States funneled about $400 billion to cities and states just for elementary and secondary education.
We sought a comment from a spokesman for Stewart but did not receive a reply.

Jon and his leftist brethren are really good at ignoring inconvenient facts, like the experiment in the Kansas City public school district, into which millions were poured, only to have to close schools decades later with absolutely no positive results in higher scores, etc. That’s just one of the most infamous of the great leftist experiments in gouging taxpayers for absolutely nothing. No matter how many times this experiment is repeated in various districts, the left continues to extort money from the productive to just do it again. That might be because it’s not really about helping poor little Jamal, it’s really about wealth redistribution from the productive to the leeches, after the leftist elites skim it really good. If that were not so, why would they continue to ignore the failures and keep calling for a repeat of the exact same failure?

Maybe I’m being silly here, but sometimes when Stewart opens up his puerile, idiotic mouth, I think of the 1983 Twilight Zone movie part that featured the late Vic Morrow playing the bigot who got sent into situations involving SS guards, KKK men, and into the Vietnam jungles (yes, I know Morrow was killed along with those 2 kids filming this sequence).
What would I give to see Stewart sent to Russia about 1930, screaming his innocence as he is about to be marched off to a firing squad during Stalin’s purges or China in 1958 and he is being worked to death during the Great Leap Forward or Cambodia in 1976 and he is being sentenced to death for being too smart or too happy (those were death penalty offences under Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime).
True enough - what really torques me is that the truth that was used to debunk Stewart is enough to make one's blood boil too...

Those who have a so called diploma from Baltimore area high schools are ranked among the lowest in the nation in reading. Very few can even read at the 8th grade level.

I don’t really care where the trillion dollars was spent in Afghanistan. It’s enough to know that virtually all of it was a waste of money.
