Ted Cruz: Why I voted YES for Corker Iran bill
TheRightscoop ^ | 5/7/2015 | RightScoop

Cruz- “This bill was a missed opportunity. If Congress had acted to defend our constitutional authority – if Congress had adopted the Cruz-Toomey amendment – then we would be able to stop a bad Iran deal. Instead, the odds are now overwhelming that under these ground rules President Obama will negotiate, and Congress will acquiesce to, a terrible deal that allows Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and will endanger the lives of millions of Americans and our allies.

“I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage because it may delay, slightly, President Obama’s ability to lift the Iran sanctions and it ensures we will have a Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran deal. I will continue to lead the fight to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to protect the national security of America and our allies.”

If Cotton played this smart instead of stupid, there would be a legitimate chance. Intentionally or unintentionally , Cotton played right into Obama's arms.

One of these days, we will all realize that this mess of a country will not be fixed by an election.

Until citizens catch on to that, we are doomed.

"I think he didn’t want to vote yes, but by voting yes, his voice will be heard. It’s a good move politically and doesn’t hurt him since he voted no on cloture."

I agree. The man is learning because he is the smartest person in the room. He tried with a NO vote on cloture, but once lost, he knew the Senate would vote yes, and given his acumen, he voted yes to give himself more power against the GOPe. I absolutely agree with his votes.

Anyone here who thinks he sold out, does not understand Senate rules and politics, especially with the RINO's in charge. Ted Cruz is brilliant and is making his "voice" heard throughout Congress and the populace from his votes and speeches, not to mention his past. Cruz is working the corrupt RINO system to his advantage.

Unfortunately, I believe he is too much a strict Constitutionalist to get the elite Pubbie nomination and makes good fodder for the MSM with his Reaganist positions. If he were to get the nomination, we would destroy Hillary in debates. I'm dubious of Rand Paul able to hold his own against Hillary.

The rest of GOP pack are the same ole, same ole, except Walker who can run on his State accomplishments. We are still in a very low (almost negative) growth economy from years of Obambi's socialist programs, yet Walker fought the liberals in Wisconsin time and again and improved his State economy. He's a economic powerhouse.

Funny how the MSM is complaining about him having NO foreign policy experience. Think he should counter with the first term Senator Obambi had none either? Always wonder about negative campaigns.

Personally, I think it's time our Conservatives not only promote their accomplishments but also show where the left has failed. Walker/Cruz should hit hard on Hillary's scandals in way that hits home to the low-info voters.

Cotton tired the Kardashians approach - high volume and attention, low intelligence. The low volume/high intelligence approach works much better. Obama was doing something everyone knows is stupid. Cotton distracted everyone from that and saved Obama’s bacon.

So surrendering the Treaty power of the US Constitution somehow helps elect conservatives in 2016? That is pretzel logic.

Oh yes. I am convinced he is balled up under a desk right now wetting himself over the fear that his cunning plan was narrowly saved by the rogue actions of that one man and it could just as easily slip away tomorrow.

Do you even read the things you post about? I’m curious? I mean you totally missed the point of what i said and you completely took this vote down the rabbit hole to Wonderland so I just GoTTA know.

Norm spelled it out nice and simple for you CINO-bots.

"one Senator isn’t going to stop it"

Please explain how he can, CINO-Bots. At least he's doing something instead of
grinding out bumper sticker phrases.

I expect Cruz to spill his milk tomorrow to really get you folks up in arms.

It’s a fashion statement on FR lately for libs to start off their Ted Cruz posts with “Ted Cruz just lost my vote!” so I’m kinda shocked they didn’t here.
