Not everyone on the Left is using these tactics. It's the homosexual movement Leftists who are doing this, going all the way back to the Anita Bryant mauling and accelerating after the gays comprehensively and completely lost the James Dale (Boy Scouts of America) case in 2000.
Losing Dale caused homosexuals to go into orbit, and then into Vindictive Little Tart mode, and they redoubled their efforts to destroy the BSA by using gay agents of influence on corporate boards who serve on e.g. The United Way board to cut off all financial support to the BSA. The United Way was one of the first eleemosynary organizations to cut off all ties to the BSA because of Dale, and they were quite candid that they were doing so because of entreaties from Movement gays.
Which makes it an interesting intellectual exercise, to weigh whether United Way and friends should lose their tax-exempt status because of their transparent political canoodling with the Pervert Left.
The United Way lost a lot of donations over their denial of funds to the BSA. I never donate to them anymore.
