The college administration said that they were sorry that the student and her family found the course materials to be distasteful, but said the materials would not be modified.
This is why tenure should be out at colleges.
There is a movie out on Netflix which actually shows a Christian kid in class being told to denounce his Christianity and he refuses and challenges the professor.
Good movie but I forgot what it is called
OK the movie is called God’s not dead.
Well worth a watch if you have Netflix.
So now it really is beginning. When there are real consequences for not denying your Lord and Savior, what’s next? Burning at the stake?
The professor’s name makes me think “transgendered”. If the student is asked to give a defense to the statements that is one thing. College students should be able to support their arguments. If the statements were written as facts that can have no other conclusion that is another and unacceptable.
The course materials are distasteful but that is not the problem the problem is allowing something to stand as a fact when it is only the teacher’s opinion. One that can be disputed with evidence by any well read student.
She should have written an essay as to how the instructor proves the existence of Satan and evil and there proves that God must exist and the premise of his assignment is invalid.
I wonder if professor (ahem) requires muslims to denounce Allah/Mohamhead, or queers to denounce their deviancy?
The whole story is old internet legend, urban myth. But one can dream, right?
This is why tenure should be out at all schools! How awesome to have a job and be absolutely incompetent and be rewarded for it!
One of my son’s majors is Theology, and they are putting him to the test - making him question a lot of his beliefs. The goal is to make him stronger - but many kids LOSE their faith because of it. (Our pastor, who went through it, says our son will be fine. I hope!)
The assignments she was supposed to write would be interesting papers perhaps for graduate students in Theology - to come up with possible arguments that would help them be able to counter them.
But that isn’t the case here - the professor is just being a jerk. If it was me I wouldn’t be too upset. “Screw you buddy - I’ve failed better and more important classes than this!” (True!!)
Agreed. I hope this student gets a lot of support. If this school wants to stand behind this heathen, they need to get sued to the nth degree.

I had a Philosophy Professor in college who hated veterans. This is back in the mid 70’s. Well I have always had a dislike for leftists and commies so being an Army vet going to engineering school on the GI bill he and I did not hit it off so well. That is an understatement. I got a D in his class while racking up A’s in all my engineering, calculus and physics courses that semester which was fine because he pissed a little in his pants when he and I ran across each other in a local pub one night.
the man needs a stroke..... zap!
Yes that’s it. Thank you.
She must be pretty sharp. I'm sure she won't allow some dirtbag like this professor to hold her back.
