Depending on whom you ask, Jade Helm 15 is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.
Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Partys annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloombergs David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do such as implement martial law, seize Americans guns, and imprison political dissidents.
Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.
My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise, he said. We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens dont trust what it is saying.(continued)

And clearly it doesn’t take a special ops excercise for that stuff to happen. I don’t see your point.
And I would not declare Hassan or Manning to be on par with special ops soldiers. I am not familiar with the last ones you mentioned.
for later
Why make it a possibility to begin with?
Actually FR’s liberal wing is trying to make him look bad as usual. Like they did with Palin. Of which he was a part BTW.
To clarify, Of which LT was a part.
Think of any special forces operator you know. Whether it be a current active duty, retired, or someone you knew back in the day.
Know imagine someone telling them to fire on Americans. Or take out their cars. Or close down their towns. In Texas, no less.
You can imagine them doing that? Really?
Hey Travis, your unique expertise is needed on this thread
It is a training excercise. Where else are they gonna do it?
14 times it’s happened. Just because it’s in Texas this time everyone gets worked up. With all of the bases down there, I am surprised you’d notice.
Indeed they are.
Well, let’s see:
Paid liar for State said that Benghazi was all caused by a film.
Paid liar for NSA said that there was no domestic spying.
Paid liar for IRS said that there was not a smidgen of corruption at the IRS.
Paid liar for Defense said that trading 5 high level terrorists for traitor and deserter Bergdahl was a good deal and it was necessary to protect his life.
Paid liar for National Intelligence said that he was giving the “least untruthful answer” to the question in the Senate.
And on and on. Now with this kind of history, you expect us to believe on faith the current “paid liar”.
PS I served and retired from the military, but I have never encountered such a corrupt and dishonest bunch in military and political leadership and I have in the last 20 year.
Afghanistan is in Asia.
Are you REALLY that desperate?
Wanta’ hear something really scary? The private property owners “leased” the land to the feds at “no charge”.
All those people in Bastrop County, Texas are not right wing nuts. Most of them probably work in left wing nut Austin. And they’re very upset about this and the Colonel in charge was told to his face that they didn’t believe him.
My wife has a nephew who is currently serving in the Army, and he is a devoted Obamabot...turns on ANYONE who dares to criticize 'The One'. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that he would fire on Americans if ordered to...are there more like him? Hope not.
When his voice box (Sharpton) is calling for the federalization of the police, and he's already filled the military with his shills, how in the world is there something wrong with Ted Cruz asking for clarification on behalf of the citizenry of Texas?
Anyone who trusts what this administration is doing on anything needs their head examined, not those who are saying the administration is untrustworthy.
I honestly don’t believe they have the force participation necessary to take Texas. That notwithstanding, can you find an article anywhere that references Jade Helm 12?
>>they sure do swallow the kool-aid and then ask for more.<<
There are millions that do not. I gotta tell ya, I hear all this martial law tawk and shake my head.
These commie b@st@rds are much smarter than that. Martial law in a small area like inner city...perhaps that’s scenario I could by into, but ML nationwide...not so much.
Martial law would be national suicide.
Under this president and current economic climate, possibly.
Loads. My kid served with many just like that.
Period.
