Depending on whom you ask, “Jade Helm 15” is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas – and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.
Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Party’s annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloomberg’s David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do – such as implement martial law, seize Americans’ guns, and imprison political dissidents.
Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.
“My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise,” he said. “We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens don’t trust what it is saying.”(continued)

In the 1990s B Clinton conducted the same type of exercises here in Texas and he didn’t bother to tell anyone including local law enforcement.
Kingsville, Texas had military dropping into the town in the middle of the night without anyone knowing what was going on.
Clearly Clinton was hoping for a confrontation between locals and military so he could blame it on “Right Wing Extremist”.
Let the Pentagon go to the southern border to play around.

The same old ‘move along, nothing to see here’ drill ain’t going to play in Texas. Obama and conservative Texans clearly share a mutual dislike and distrust of one another.
Would Obama trash the Constitution and declare martial law before the end of his term? Does a bear whiz in the woods when no one’s looking? Well, we’re watching...and keeping an eye on the bear to make sure he’s doing his business and nothing more.
Yeah, just like “never let a crisis go to waste” and the DHS as well as the military leadership both putting out memos about people wanting the constitution upheld are “terrorists”.
But these are not your grunts off the farm. This is a special ops excercise. You really cannot be suggesting that 1200 special operators—the smartest, best trained, soldiers on the planet, are going to turn against their own people?
Are you suggesting that?
It just doesn’t make sense.
Look at it this way. If something does happen, all the people screaming “Nutjob!” are going to find themselves rather lonely in their neighborhoods.

Here in Texas we remember the last democrat president and they are not fond memories.
It was a well trained professional soldier who did Fort Hood.
