Hannity talking with anonymous cop making breaking news. Cop says Freddy tested positive for drugs, including heroin, thus supporting story by cops and the other criminal in the van that Freddy was trying to cause harm to himself. The drugs would certainly make it easier for him to do it.
Cop also says they were explicitly told not to confront looters and robbers "direct from commander."
“Just as much a stretch that six officers maliciously killed him.”
The officers did not intentionally kill him. They gave him a “rough ride” to knock him around a bit, but because of how he was positioned in the van, they broke his neck. Any non-LEO person would be charged with at least manslaughter in the same situation. If you try to hurt somebody, and they die in the process, that’s manslaughter or 2nd degree murder, whether you intended to kill them or not.
“That would be negligence and the family would be getting a check in the mail”
What do you think would happen to you if you were driving your pickup with a young man in the back with no belt or restraint and he ended up dead.
Hint... You would go to jail. And if he had his hands tied that would be even more likely.
Heroin can turn you crazy as well.
“Wouldnt driving around at high speeds and slamming on the brakes cause him to careen to the front of the van as opposed to careening to the back of the van where the coroner said his head contacted a bolt which left a mark?
Do you think the van was moving in reverse at high speeds and then slamming on the brakes?
Do you think that if a driver of a police van was operating in such a reckless way as to kill a man by breaking his bones that someone would have seen this at 8:45 am in the morning in the middle of a city?
Do you think that GPS data from that van might show erratic driving if in fact erratic driving occurred?”
I haven’t heard anything about the location of the bolt, of if the van had GPS. As far as the public seeing it, I guess we could look back at the other cases where people have been paralyzed or killed by these “rough rides” to see if anyone outside the van saw anything. I don’t know.
This is what I think too. He could have been standing up, and when they suddenly accelerated, he could have fallen backwards with sufficient force to hit his head on that bolt and break his neck, but it would be a fluke circumstance.
Wonder what the chances are you could be seriously injuring yourself and not even realize it when you've got your pain receptors soaking in heroin.
How was this scientifically shown?
Good point.
GPS is too coarse to show micro-maneuvers (like braking hard in reverse)
I agree with you Rome. Hannity is out of control. Three hours on the radio and one on tv has shattered his reason and made him so rabid he is unwatchable.
And again, injured in FOUR places not just one
“I think it’s a stretch to claim that he was unable to get up from his position. Do you have a link showing that he was “debunked”? This was reported by WAPO as coming out of a report.”
From the demonstration I saw of the van just a bit ago (CNN I think) I don’t think I could have gotten up to a kneeling position in that situation. I’m 6’0” 200 but not the most athletic person. Could somebody do it? Maybe, I don’t know, I don’t see how with hands and feet bound.
There is an interview with the other prisoner you can look up, from last night. Actually I think there is a second one now, but I haven’t seen it. He was in the van for the final few minutes of the ride.
Let’s get a grand jury to decide though just for kicks :) Gets me a little nervous when tearing a town apart gets the powers that be to indict. I could be wrong.
What do you think would happen to you, if Democrats weren't aware of your case, if you had a perp who was uncooperative and violent whom you placed into the back of a van started bashing his head in with evidence of drug use?
Probably not second degree murder.
Don't know, but I did once watch a teammate break his neck on a routine high jump onto pads/cushions. One good whack in the wrong angle can do a lot of damage. Scary.
Couldn’t agree more with your analysis. The prosecuter sounded more like Torquemada than an officer of the court. Very unprofessional and way too political.
Not sure if I’m willing to take CNN’s word for it, especially when cops and another criminal are saying they heard evidence of him attempting self harm. He’d have to be sitting up to do it. That “bolt” would also have to be facing towards the front of the van and ground level. From what I have heard, the bolt they’re talking about was on the door.
http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/30/us/baltimore-freddie-gray-death-investigation/
“Sources said the medical examiner found Gray’s catastrophic injury was caused when he slammed into the back of the police transport van, apparently breaking his neck; a head injury he sustained matches a bolt in the back of the van.”
“On Thursday, a Baltimore police investigation into Gray’s death found no evidence he died as the result of injuries caused during his arrest, according to CNN affiliate WJLA, citing “multiple law enforcement sources briefed on the police findings.”
The sources quoted by the Washington-based station said the medical examiner had determined Gray’s death was caused by a catastrophic injury after he slammed into the back of the police transport van while inside it, “apparently breaking his neck; a head injury he sustained matches a bolt in the back of the van.”
It seems prudent to study available information before one forms an opinion or scenario of what they think happened.
Based on available information, It doesn’t make a lot of sense to theorize that a police van was was driven around at 8:45 am in the morning in such a purposeful, reckless manner that it resulted in a man’s death and that the result of death was the pre- planned malicious intention of the driver, which is what the charge of 2nd degree murder suggests.
Let’s use our heads here please.
Some get paranoid and violent.
When someone is "acting up" it is policy not to get too near if possible....as the miscreant will spit at the officers.
this was mentioned on a thread a couple of days ago.
