Mike Huckabee is going to run for president in 2016. While he won't make that official until next Tuesday, he released a two-minute video on Friday that both previews the themes on which he will run and shows why he may be the most underrated candidate in the field.

According to The Washington Post, at a recent meeting of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), one of the organizations that created the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Huckabee urged state education officials to get rid of the Common Core name because it has become toxic.
As the Post indicates, however, Huckabee still intends to support the standards.
Rebrand it, refocus it, but dont retreat, Huckabee reportedly told CCSSO members.
As Breitbart News reported in December, Huckabee, who is considered to be a Republican presidential hopeful in 2016, opened one of his shows by telling his audience that people have been posting on his Facebook page that they will never watch his show again because he supports the Common Core standards. Others, he said, have told him they could not trust him because of his support of the standards, and some said he needed to learn the truth about Common Core.
According to The Washington Post,... and taken completely out of any context. Versus a whole statement from Huckabee himself reacting to it:
I dont support what Common Core has become in many states or school districts, Huckabee said. Look, Im dead set against the federal government creating a uniform curriculum for any subject. I oppose the collection of personal data on students that would identify them and then track them, and certainly any effort to give that personal information to the federal government.I am steadfast in my belief that parents parents should ultimately decide the best venue for their childrens education, whether its public schools, private schools, religious schools, or home schools, Huckabee added.
You are doing conservatives no favors by supporting a candidate whose sole purpose is to take votes away from candidates who can actually win the nomination (which Huckabee can't) and give the nomination to a sure loser like Bush or Rubio.Cruz said. "His entry into the race will no doubt raise the bar of competition, help make us all stronger, and ultimately ensure that the GOP nominee is equipped to beat Hillary Clinton and to take back the White House for Republicans in 2016."
Great quote by Cruz. Thank you for that. I do like him very much.
I need to put your own link into context for you? LoL!
You only gave the headline... which was spectacularly squashed by the quote I stuffed in your face. Rarely has a headline been so easily done in by it’s own story.
Thanks for linking me to it, despite the headline spin, I will be using the quote against your gullibility.
You are welcome The Ghost of FReepers Past. I like Cruz too.
If WaPo says he is a great candidate, NO!
BTW, I wrote in Huckabee’s name in the 2012 general election for President. I could not vote for Romney. LOL. I knew my state would vote Republican anyway so I could afford to do it.
Stalking is right.
The WaPo saying something good about an R candidate? There’s a reason. Huckabee has ONLY hurt the American people each time he drags his sorry lying arse before the cameras to run. He will never be President. He can’t be in the running as long as Ted Kennedy even, because his carelessness killed MORE people than Ted.
Huckster is not an idiot. He is an imbecile
The last candidate standing against Jeb will be Mike and with a little Divine Intervention Jeb will implode despite his huge money advantage.
Then it will be Huckabee versus Clinton.
You will vote again for Huckabee and this time he will be President.
"President of what?"
Are we supposed to forget everything he has said and done in the meantime?
That would be great. And maybe VP Cruz. Or the other way around.
My husband died in 2012 and he was a huge Huckabee fan. I voted for Huckabee partly for my husband who could no longer vote. I knew he would be proud.
Our Harold Stassen for this century.
So long...
Sorry but your analysis is wrong.
There are only one or two States out of 50 which support religious candidates as a “Must Have”
We need to move Blue States to Red States to have any chance of capturing the Presidency.
OH, IA, WI, NV, CO, NH, FL and NC are the only States clearly in play right now.
Huckabee or Jeb in the general election would loose every one of these States and probably 6 Red States.
The Washington Post knows this which is WHY they are pushing political loosers like Jeb, Santorum or Huckabee.
