Not the other Todd Smith, but the Todd Smith of Euless. Not exactly John Randolph of Roanoke.

This may be a novel thought - but what if our government told all of what the training exercises were intended to do, when and where they were taking place, maybe even what units are taking part, etc.. Might allay fears, make us feel as though we were participants in our own government.

You, know like our Founding Fathers intended.

If it is so stupid, then why is this rube so bent out of shape? No harm will come from assuaging fears.

Fear and rumors are easily defeated with facts, so let's hear some.
If even a governor can't get a straight answer from the feds, then we have a serious problem.
Countering with name calling does nothing useful at all.

The reason Abbott is doing this, back in the 1990s Clinton also conducted military exercises in towns and no one bothered to tell the local law enforcement they were going to do it.

Townspeople, including law enforcement, didn’t have the slightest clue what a bunch of helicopters with armed people repelling down onto rooftops in the town in the middle of the night were doing.

One town was Kingsville, Texas.

In Texas it’s not a real bright idea to have people dropping out of helicopters onto someone’s private property without getting permission to do it first.

Someone could get shot.

Let’s see, suspicious military training in the streets of America under the control of the fraud thug in the WH as he moves to nationalize the country’s law enforcement. You go Gov. Abbot, protect you’re citizens. Trusting anything this federal government does will be at our own expense and possible demise.

He might have a case if the gov’t was not currently being occupied by islamic loving communists bent on the destruction of everything American.

Really doesn’t matter who is running the country, military exercises should not be run in the streets of any town other than passing thru on the way to designated isolated training area’s.

Just guessing here that Todd Smith was a social liberal, a tax hiker, possibly a gun grabber in his time in the Texas legislature and that his retirement was a good example to others like him.

Todd Smith of Euless, who retired from public office in 2013, said he is “horrified that I have to choose between the possibility that my Governor actually believes this stuff and the possibility that my Governor doesn’t have the backbone to stand up to those who do.”

He's my governor too and I think it's OK to trust but verify. I even voted for him because he was smarter and more conservative than Wendy Davis. I'm proud Greg Abbott is our governor. Sorry you do not agree.

In the seventies we had training exercises in US cities & in the boondocks as individuals and small units AND with local government cooperation at some level. Those were NOT fire and maneuver training for Western style cities.
There were tactical games geared around US & European scenarios but they were table exercises.

In Obama's Amerika, with every governmental coven being armed, academic & media narrative of "white privilege", biased IRS decisions, biased State prosecutor's announcements, and (presumably) less than two years left for this caliphate, it's only reasonable for local authority to question and monitor ANY federal activity within its borders.
After all, we have precedent of US citizens being killed by overwhelming government forces. We have precedent of government lawlessness, deceit, and division....
We have not a single precedent for trust.

Trust this government at your peril. I wouldn’t put anything past them. Corrupt, ingenuous, non-transparent, immoral losers running the country into the ground.
