Baltimore prosecutor: Probable cause to file criminal charges in Gray’s death

State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby said Friday she has probable cause to file criminal charges in the much publicized death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray who died while in police custody.

Six officers, including a lieutenant and a sergeant, have been suspended after the incident. Gray suffered a spinal injury and died after riding in a police transport van that made several stops.

On Thursday, Baltimore’s police officials said they turned over their initial report to prosecutors — a day earlier than expected.

The clear signal here is: if you are going to unlawfully arrest someone, make sure they don't end up dead in the back of the police van.

I see you convicted the cops already.

And you have a conscience?

If we nationalize police, throw out state laws on health care, marriage, voting and immigration, someone please tell me why do we need states?

If you’re on a jury and the testimony is that while he was in police custody he told one story, and when he was released without being charged he told another..... which do you believe? I agree he could be changing it because he doesn’t want to get killed on the street. Or he could have said what the police wanted him to say to get out. The best you can do is just ignore his testimony all together and call him an unreliable witness who is obviously lying in one instance.

If you were driving your minivan with a kid in it without a seat belt had an accident and the kid broke his neck, do you suppose you would be charged (homicide)?

I would guess probably yes...

"My question therefore, is how can they rule this as a homicide? ..."

.... If it can be proven that the Officers broke with protocol and failed to restrain the perp on many multiple occasions ... which according to this report ... they did .... sounds like the minimum would be manslaughter but probably negligent homicide (the death at the hands of another person(s) through gross negligence or without malice). The charge and punishment would most likely be similar to Manslaughter.

wow.. that picture captures her attitude I was remarking on perfectly.

Maybe the police did do something wrong here, and if they did, they should be prosecuted, but not by THIS hack.

Especially if you had the kid handcuffed with his hands behind his back....

She has the cops convicted already. To deny that is to be tone deaf.

Isn't that her role as prosecutor?

that woman DA has a MAJOR attitude problem.

On the one hand she seemed to be seething with hate and on the other hand almost gleeful that she was getting to burn some police officers and eager to get to it.

One of her promises during her recent election campaign was to be more aggressive in taking on police misconduct.

I sure wouldn't want to rely on her sense of fairness and justice.

With all due respect, you called serial criminal offender Fast Freddie a "kid" three times in your post.

He was 26 when he passed from this mortal coil.

Conflict of interest...oh, wait...they’re all black so such limitations do not apply to them. Never mind.

I agree with the union’s call for an independent prosecutor.

They do that when the local prosecutor doesn't agree with them.

He was also handcuffed and leg shackled, so had no ability to use his hands/legs to brace himself. I’m not sure about murder, but manslaughter is a no brainer. Perhaps the murder charge is because they did not get him medical help when he was obviously in distress.

I concur. Though the policy change was a recent development. Manslaughter at best, in my opinion with known evidence. Though there is a good deal of reasonable doubt so get ready when the officer walks for the riots.

I have? Where?

I have not convicted anyone of anything. I believe that there is probable cause, but I have not convicted anyone of anything.

H/T to our FRiend Markomalley for the post.

And the next venue for the Leftist Racism Road Show is about to be booked. Just as in Ferguson, and Sanford, and Los Angeles, and Noo Yawk...

The stage is now being set for a public trial of LEO's, held to an impposible standard in what will be the court of public opinion - guaranteed to ignite more riots regardless of the verdict - and the race tensions escalae.

All according to plan...

For thus has the Lord said unto me:

“How many of the looters and burners of property will she prosecute? How about the mayor who told cops to not defend the city? Will Mosby prosecute her?”

When HELL freezes over.
