State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby said Friday she has probable cause to file criminal charges in the much publicized death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray who died while in police custody.
Six officers, including a lieutenant and a sergeant, have been suspended after the incident. Gray suffered a spinal injury and died after riding in a police transport van that made several stops.
On Thursday, Baltimore’s police officials said they turned over their initial report to prosecutors — a day earlier than expected.

Seriously? Did you not hear the blatantly political statements she made? Did you not hear her pandering to the senseless, violent rioters? No, that woman is a leftist, political hack. This indictment came WAY too fast, and it's clearly meant to appease the animals in the streets. She even said they were going to seek "justice" for the rioters. THEY are NOT part of the case.
The story that I heard yesterday was that he went into some story that sells ‘loose’ cigarettes and apparently smoked the cigarette in the store. When he came out they asked him, “where’s the cigarette that you bought?” and he told them that he smoked it already. at that point he was arrested.... it was on the TV, I don’t recall what channel it was.... take it for what it is worth....
In my opinion, it should be considered legal. But it was still against BALTIMORE law. She is a publicity-seeking, showboating black SLUT.
The knife HAD a spring in it, so it was ILLEGAL in Baltimore. NO TECHNOLOGY is allowed in knives in Baltimore. PERIOD.
Just saw that on Hannity that 3 cops are black so there goes the race factor .
They cannot have a fair trial at all and the corruption of the prosecutor taking money from Grays lawyer, and looking at who she is married to along with her comments of “I heard your shouts of no justice no peace” That is a political statement.

Maybe that is the way that the police have interpreted the law there for 50 years. I wonder if it has ever been tested in court. Another source says that those type of knives are sold all over the City, and nearly every male there has one.
So it could be a “sure it is illegal, but we ignore it until we want an arrest” kind of laws.

Do you know if it is true that the driver (who is facing the heaviest charge) is black? (I sound like such a racist, but this is how the left has rigged the game.)
I heard that he was, and I think he may be because one of the cops is obviously older than the others and that old guy is black.
The Prosecutor’s announcement in Baltimore about bringing charges against six officers there was nothing more than a political campaign speech, it certainly was not a prosecutorial statement.
This prosecutor should not even be prosecuting the case. She should have recused herself because she is a close personal friend to the young man who died family’s attorney. That attorney has been her mentor and was a large campaign contributor to her political campaign to become prosecutor. With a conflict of interest like that, there is no way she should be prosecuting the case.
As to her prosecution, she has charged those officers with 2nd degree, willful murder. It sounds like she is going for the highest charge she can possibly think of without any credence given to the actual facts on the ground. Again, it sounds like she is doing so to make a political statement and try and use that to calm things in Baltimore. But it will not work. It will only end up making things worse.
Given what happened, I do not believe there is any hope or chance of sustaining, or winning any kind of verdict on such a charge. If the arrest indeed was not legal (and that is certainly not established), charge them with illegal arrest and detention. If they did not seat belt the young man in the paddy wagon, charge them with violating their own safety protocol. But to take those two things and turn it into a willful murder of this young man is simply amazing in its over reach.
Finally, any good attorney and prosecutor would not rile up the public and seek to bias them as this prosecutor has done. That too ends up backfiring when the house of cards ultimately comes down.
I believe, like with the Trayvon Martin case in Florida, and the Michael Brown case in Ferguson, MO, huge, and unprovable over-reaches like this end up in having the people they are trying to trump up the charges on being exonerated and found innocent of those charges.. As in those cases, this attempt will end up not serving justice or the interests of Baltimore. Sadly, predictably, it will only make matters worse when the charges cannot be supported and the individuals are found innocent.
It is sad to see the U.S. justice system being politically corrupted right before our eyes like this.
The autopsy has not been released yet, and it could be very helpful. It was said by the prosecutor that the death was ruled a homicide, and not accidental.
I would like to see the autopsy reports.
Originally, the family said that his larynx was crushed, three vertebrae cracked, and the spinal cord nearly severed.
I was not there, but it sounds more like a stomping, chokehold, or kneedrop than injuries from banging around inside of a van.
We know they stopped at least twice, once to “further restrain” Freddy, and none of that is on camera.
We also know there was at least one stop recorded by citizens that the police did not report.
These uncertainties make me unwilling to call it a lynching, just yet.
I would love to see the findings from the autopsy.

A guy was arrested for having a legal knife and now he’s dead. Don’t you want to know what happened? I sure do.
If they did what the charges say, they need to be sentenced.

Just speculation, but if there is actual guilt here, when several or 6 people are charged with a crime, it has a tendency to cause suspects to turn on each other. Point fingers at one in particular. First to sequel gets the deal. There is no honor among thieves.
TBS, they could all be 100% innocent.

He died a week or so later and the investigation was completed yesterday. So, they took all of a day to analyze the investigation by police. This a political hack prosecution to satisfy “social justice” and stop the burning.

The knife is no small point. It makes the “illegal arrest” and “false imprisonment” charges.
The SCourt ruled that when in a high crime area (this took place in a known open air drug market), when a person flees police, that invokes “reasonable suspicion” to detain, search and question. Upon that apprehension, the knife was discovered. The States’ Attorney, coyly stated that the knife, not a switchblade, does not violate Maryland law. What he omitted, crucially, is that the spring assisted knife violates Baltimore city law.
I see a weak case for both “illegal arrest” and “false imprisonment”...leaving the ridiculous charge of 2nd degree murder left and a technical recent ruling on mandatory seatbelting of people in police vans.

I do think she referenced the Mayors remarks, in brief. I’d have to get a transcript but the pundits have spoken about her doing so.
I’d would expect screaming outrage type of remark.
