By Thomas DiLorenzo:

Baltimore Sun columnist Thomas Schaller, a political science professor at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, cheerfully heralded the state of Maryland as a “liberal paradise” in 2013. Maryland is indeed by far the most left-wing state in America, a veritable showcase of the “liberal” welfare state. It has huge populations of both government employees and welfare parasites; one of the most generous welfare systems of any state; its “public” schools have long been destroyed by belligerent teachers’ unions; is a very high-tax state; routinely wages political war on whatever is left of real capitalism — its politicians proudly boast that the regulation of business is more onerous than any other state, and usually exceeds even federal regulatory dictates; and coddles criminals, endlessly repeating the “liberal” mantra that criminals are not responsible for the crimes they commit, “society” is. And of course the “war on drugs” rages in inner-city Baltimore as much as anywhere, complete with ever-increasing police brutality with an increasingly militarized and federalized police force.

As in many other cities, in Baltimore the black family has been all-but-destroyed by the welfare state (See Losing Ground by Charles Murray for an explanation of how welfare eliminated the stigma that was once attached to abandoning one’s children). The Baltimore Sun reports that, for decades, at least 80% of all black children are born without a father being a part of their life, with white families catching up rapidly. This has created several Lord-of-the-Flies generations. The rotten “public” schools in Baltimore city have destroyed the employment opportunities of tens of thousands of these children, while the war on drugs, which has caused skyrocketing drug prices and profits, lures them into lives of crime (and death by crime). All of this is a recipe for the mindless destruction of small businesses that was on display in yesterday’s riots and looting. With Al Sharpton reportedly headed to Baltimore, things are bound to get worse before they get better. No sane business person would ever invest in these neighborhoods. Once this is realized in a few years, the absence of drug stores, grocery stores, etc. will of course be blamed on the racism of white capitalists. “Paradise” will at last have been realized.

What Republicans actually exist in Baltimore anyway? sounds like a case of blame this tiny local minority for all our problems, rather than analyze what about their lifestyle may actually be worth emulating, and improve our lives for the rest of us.

Like Ferguson, another series of manipulated Democrat lies to promote wealth redistribution. They want America to say "hands up, don't shoot"...

Can someone name me one city in America run by Black leadership where Black citizens are doing well?

Of course it’s hopeless. Demon-rats run that city and have for generations.

No Mr. President, we do not need to invest more money into the infrastructure.

We’ve put tons of money into ‘education, job training, etc.’ and while I agree we have to stop the pipeline of school to prison...we have to stop treating this whole community of people as victims.

Lincoln didn’t free the slaves to treat them as victims. He freed them in recognition of their God given Rights as human beings. He freed them to let them pursue their happiness, not victimization.

Yeas ago a teacher said to me, “You don’t have to live this way.” Those simple straight forward words, along with a trust in God, have made all the difference.

No Mr. President, the right words for right now are to tell the youth of urban communities, they and they alone have the ability to choose their path in life. Free them from this foul ideology of victimhood. What holds them back from taking advantage of the opportunities in front of them isn’t a lack of investment, it is the lack of having their own American Dream.

Republicans are to Obama what Jews were to Nazis and ‘counter revolutionary capitalist roaders’ were to Mao Tse tung - the boogyman conjured whenever their own miserable failures became apparent.

Obama...I’m pitting the blame on the main cause of rioting — the liberal Democrats in Baltimore along with liberal Dems and RINOs nationwide.

Rush accurately predicted yesterday that the dems would figure out a way to blame republicans. Sure enough, Obama steps right up and blames repubs for not “investing” in “communities”. Huh??? What the heck does he thing the Great Society programs have been doing for 50 years? The problem is TOO MUCH give away programs and the resultant dependency.

OK. I get it. It is the GOP's fault for not shoveling enough welfare money into these failing cities full of people who have been wrecked by the Democrat's Great Society and run by the same Democrat/Big Union crooks who passed the laws in the first place.

So, the obvious solution is to shovel another $22 Trillion down this rat-hole and keep the same criminals in office and maybe we'll get a different result or at least we'll keep the blacks on the Democrat Plantation so they can continue to vote 95% for Democrats?

Isn't this the very definition of insanity, or what?

Oh President Zero. Try again.

The liberal cesspool of Baltimore is exclusively run by Democrats. There is not one single councilman that is a Republican. The mayor is and has been a Democrat. Its people voted 86% Democrat in the last election.

It’s your left-wing paradise that’s failing. Republicans have nothing to do with it.

The quote below is more from the link. It appears to be a NYT article reference.

If I summarize it, it is nothing more than a claim that, “We just need more time to achieve utopia, and we would have been there by now if it weren’t for those standing in our way!”

The same claims that are made by every tyrant in history!

*******************

If we are serious about solving this problem, then we’re going to not only have to help the police, we’re going to have to think about what can we do, the rest of us, to make sure that we’re providing early education to these kids. To make sure that we’re reforming our criminal justice system so it’s not just a pipeline from schools to prisons. So that we’re not rendering men in these communities unemployable because of a felony record for a nonviolent drug offense. That we’re making investments so they can get the training they need to find jobs.

That’s hard. That requires more than just the occasional news report or task force, and there’s a bunch of my agenda that would make a difference right now in that. I’m under no illusion that under this Congress we’re going to get massive investments in urban communities. And so we’ll try to find areas where we can make a difference around school reform, and around job training, and around some investments in infrastructure in these communities trying to attract new businesses in.
