Several American Airlines flights were delayed Tuesday night after a software glitch occurred in the Apple iPads provided to pilots, forcing authorities to return planes to the gates to fix the malfunction, the Verge reported. The affected flights reportedly included AA2413, AA2276, AA1654, AA235 and AA128.
Passengers were reportedly asked to exit the aircraft. American Airlines first confirmed the issue to a passenger, named Bill Jacaruso, who was traveling to Austin from Dallas/Fort Worth airport on flight AA1654.
Some flights are experiencing an issue with a software application on pilot iPads, Andrea Huguely, a spokeswoman for the American Airlines, told the Verge. In some cases, the flight has had to return to the gate to access a Wi-Fi connection to fix the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers. We are working to have them on the way to their destination as soon as possible.
Another representative for the airline said that the issue, which had affected "a few dozen flights," had been identified and that a fix was being worked on.

One question. Can every Foxconn worker walk away at the end of the shift free and clear without the company trying to collect owed monies from them? The answer is no.
Riots, suicides and work stoppages - must be a GREAT place to work!
But it also did not state it didn't in fact power down.
Basic logic tells us that an app crashing can manifest in multiple ways including powering down the unit for a restart. Are you claiming that you know for a fact the units did not shutdown? If so provide at least a report that states the units did not in fact do that.
But on the other hand there are reports of the unit powering down. There are NO reports that say in fact that did not happen. There are reports that say the app crashed and that is not proof of your assertion. And that Sparky is fact!
Wow! You just won't give up your irrational position. That did not say that pigs did not fly as well, Mad Dawgg. It is not American Airline's job to list everything that did not happen in the incident, their statement is intended to explain what DID happen, not what did NOT happen. SHEESH.
American Airlines: iPad app glitch causes devices to power down, delays dozens of flights
And that would be game set and match Sparky...
Bwah hahahahahahah!
Good grief. You'll believe anything, won't you? Yes, if they don't live in the company dorm, and a good percentage of the live in town, they'll owe nothing to the company. Dorm rent is fixed, and a minor amount. You are again arguing facts not in evidence.
The suicide rate during the WORST period at FoxConn was one-quarter of the suicide rate of the Chinese population for the same age cohorts . . . One-eighth the rate for the same rate for the same age group in American Ivy League Universities, and that rate was 0.25 per 100,000 population, when the U.S. suicide rate was 11 per 100,000. SHEESH!
Foxconn now has around one suicide per year among 1.2 MILLION workers. You have no clue what you are talking about.
“Foxconn now has around....”
Operative word being “now”. Historically it was higher but the put up engineering measures.
“To address its workers suicidal thoughts and actions, Foxconn has begun offering a 24-hour hotline. Mental health counseling is also provided to workers who need it. These offerings only popped up years after complaints and recommendations were made.”

And you deny jobs are not bought a Foxconn, you are the liar. It is common practice at Foxconn and other Asia companies to buy a job - which you then have to work off the debt. I have confirmed that many times with my business associates in China - one of whom does business with Foxconn.
So I post a link and you say it isn’t true but supply no evidence in support of your rebuttal. Sorry no sale. Every one of the hundreds of stories can’t be untrue and you don’t get be right just because you say so.
Look idiot, those claims of action being taken only "years later" are completely false and have been debunked numerous times.
This has been addressed more than ten times on Freerepublic and I'm not going to do it again for your benefit at the end of a long thread. Those posts debunking this included links with proofs.
The facts are that there were during an 18 month period centered around 2010, there were 18 suicides among FoxConn's 27 manufacturing plants, employing, during those 18 months between 650,000 and 750,000 employees.
One single plant, during a period of eight months had 6 of those suicides. That plant manufactured Microsoft Xboxes, HP Computers, Sony Playstations, and Nokia flip phones. That plant was located 150 miles away from the nearest plant manufacturing or assembling any Apple products. These are well documented facts.
About 15 months before that cluster of suicides, in late 2008, a mid-level engineer in FoxConn was arrested and questioned by the Chinese police about the theft of a manufacturing prototype of the next model iPhone, after being questioned for ten hours, he was released. He went home to his fifth floor apartment and jumped to his death. That is the only known suicide associated with Apple products at FoxConn. . . and it is not connected in any way with working conditions but rather with a crime.
According to you, chinese slave-labor workers assembling iProducts earn the equivalent of up to $52/hour. I bet that's more than what you make. Maybe you should get a job in a chinese workhouse assembling apple stuff and rake in the dough.
"pay levels are the equivalent of being paid between $23 to $52 per hour for factory work."-- Swordmaker"China is no longer communist. Perhaps you just did not notice when it left communism behind... China embraced what worked when they realized that Communism did not work. --Swordmaker
Clearly, Apple and its fanbuoys are apologists for Communist China. Add that to their numerous list of crimes. Reason number #1,002,...,981 not to buy Apple.
Taking my words completely out of context to distort what I said is REPREHENSIBLE and dishonest lying, Ethan. You act just exactly like a Democrat Liberal ASSHAT!
On the contrary, you are an apologist for Communist China.
"Don't put words in my mouth that I did not say. If I want to say that, I would have said it. I did not. Your implying I did is a lie, making you a liar. I don't engage in conversations with liars who distort my clearly articulated statements for their own ends. . . especially one who has no clue about economics and spouts buzz words."
I heard he was also beaten, tortured, etc. Seems like the chinese communist police work for Apple.
He went home to his fifth floor apartment and jumped to his death. That is the only known suicide
Lol. "Suicide". It's far more likely that someone (guess where?) gave the the order to off this guy. He was pushed out of a window, the same fate as many other troublesome employees.
Innuendo and snide lies from an Anti-Apple hate Brigade Member citing evidence certainly NOT in evidence any where. Who would have guessed that one of them would make up such a claim?
Pot/kettle?
Aren't you the same guy who told us because you know for a fact 24 minutes between iPad shutdowns by the glitch wasn't possible and because the AA official statement didn't mention it that it was clear evidence that indeed theunits did not power down?
It amazes me how many times you are proved wrong on this yet you still claim to be an expert.
But keep flailing about Sparky cause its better than a movie....
>> But the iPad is not integrated into the flight controls in any way.
And apparently not subject to stringent security and reliability measures.
