As National Guard troops responded to rioting in Baltimore, President Barack Obama said Tuesday that there have been too many troubling police interactions with black citizens across American in what he called "a slow-rolling crisis." But he said there was no excuse for rioters to engage in senseless violence.
Obama said people in Baltimore who stole from businesses and burned buildings and cars should be treated as criminals. "They aren't protesting, they aren't making a statement, they're stealing," Obama said.
Obama spoke at a White House press conference with the Japanese prime minister the day after violence broke out 40 miles north after the funeral for Freddie Gray, a black man who died in Baltimore police custody under mysterious circumstances.
Obama said the case should prompt some "soul searching" in America about communities where young men are more likely to end up in jail or dead than completing school. He said police shouldn't be expected to do the "dirty work" and solutions should involve early education, criminal justice reform and job training. He said American can't just "pay attention to these communities when a CVS burns."
"We have seen too many instances of what appears to be police officers interacting with individuals, primarily African-American, often poor, in ways that raise troubling questions. It comes up, it seems like, once a week now," Obama said. He said it's not new, but there's new awareness as a result of cameras and social media.
Obama has been struggling with the issue since protests erupted last year over the death of Michael Brown, a black teenager who was shot dead by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. A grand jury decided not to indict the police officer, Darren Wilson.

The disproportionate level of criminal activity among black makes is disturbing.
Then you'd be amazed at how quickly these "troubling interactions" would go away.
exactly we won the cold war and these college communists went into the shadows while getting in positions of power.
Now they want to carry on form the 60’s
Trouble is that we can see this but there will always be those who would rather blame cops or poverty instead of looking at self-responsibility.

Yes, well, I have been watching CNN....and those folks have no intention of going home at 10:00....Obama told them the police are racists....tonight could well be the flash-point
If they would quit acting like thugs, there would be no problem.
Or anything about too many journalists not checking into stories before they write articles about them?
Eliminating 3% of a certain population demograhic would cut down 75% of violent crime and murders.
If our leaders had balls and really wanted a safer country they’d be demanding this be done.
Fixed it.
Too many blacks that have no respect for people in authority, and that haven’t been taught how to interact with a police officer in a manner that will not get you killed.
Rule #1 don’t resist arrest.
Rule #2 don’t attack the police.
Rule #3 don’t make any sudden moves.
Rule #4 don’t make them angry.
Rule #5 be respectful and polite.
Rule #6 follow instructions
If every black kid in America were taught these 6 rules, the number of black deaths by cops would fall DRAMATICALLY.
Face it the poor slobs are just doing their jobs, give em a brake and dont give them a reason to think your a threat and you will go home alive.

Would there be so many troubling interactions between blacks and police if blacks thought there was support for police from the half black man in the White Hut.
Don’t any of our country’s leaders see that Obama is fomenting hatred, inciting and supporting riots? They can’t be that damn blind.
But they can be paid off/blackmailed.

What he’s going for here is federal control of local police.
This is something that should be strongly resisted.
