Christians are leaving the faith in droves and the trend isn't slowing down

An extensive study done by the Pew Research Center has yielded some fascinating information regarding the trajectory of world religions over the next four decades.

As of 2010, Christianity was the dominant world religion with roughly 2.2 billion adherents and Muslim's were second with about 1.6 billion adherents. If current demographic trends continue however, Islam is expected to catch up to Christianity midway through the 21st century

trajectory of world religions over the next four decades.

Was this done with the same computer models used by climate "scientists"?

I am currently without a church. The first Christian church that has an ounce of masculinity could get my attention.

Haven’t found one yet.

As things get tougher, prevailing conditions will separate the true believers from the pew-sitters I think.

More likely leaving the physical building of a Church.
I know several who have gone to home Church meetings.

I want to add this to the thread, and this reply is not only directed at Easternsky.

I look around the culture and observe the young by and large amoral in much higher numbers and in ways that would be shocking and revolting even one generation ago. I am a Gen Xer and enjoy wasting some free time online gaming. These games use a microphone to communicate. You can learn a lot about young men doing such a thing. And my take is that young men love their porn. They like loose women. Many are outright hostile to God and Jesus. Pot smokers love to tell everyone they smoke dope. Guys joke around in ways that were unimaginable to me. Homosexuality is embraced. Now if you don’t go along with what I just typed, you probably stay silent. And that is how Christians are lame imho. If only amoral and secular voices are heard, isn’t it natural to get more of that behavior?

Also, addressing the young men, they don’t want to be married. We are witnessing a quiet revolution of singleness. I can’t really blame a secular guy. The risk vs. reward is not their. You can get so much more as a single man today and get so much less out of marriage.

So when traditional values slip away, I kind of blame Christians for being quiet. The “everyone is doing it” mentality wins that way.

sex feels really good and women put no restraints on handing it out anymore (not all women), abortion negates the worry about that pesky fetus, condoms given for free, permissive or absent parents who JUST NEED that promotion.
Narcotics are everywhere thanks to pharma giving out oxy like candy and government allowing it for everything instead of just for cancer,
media SMASHES them over the head ever since Will and Grace and actually before.
Too many evil people in media since the 60s, no more Ben Hurs, or the Robe, etc.

Author is misreading statistics and giving it his anti-Christian slant. It is correct that Europe and US have become more secularist but not the world. It is true that Islam is growing faster than Christianity because of higher birth rate and forced conversions. Demography is destiny.

The union-controlled Marxist teachers are indoctrinating children to embrace the government as God. Mommy-the-Feminist is off at work and too busy to raise her damn children, nor does she even care.

I don’t believe Pew for one single second. About as accurate as surveys showing that fewer people (admit over the phone to strangers that they) own firearms.

Islam is hemorrhaging ex-Muslims to Christianity by the hundreds of thousands worldwide.

Sorry Pew, you can usher in the New World Order later.

I no longer go to church because my church went left and left me.
Just because I don’t attend church does not mean I am not a believer.

Your point is a very good one.

It was hard to read the statistics but it appears people are leaving churches not religions. What morally healthy individual could tolerate the false teachings in main line churches?

Now granted there is an ever growing dying of Western Civilization there could be mass conversions to non Christian religions. One sees the fatuous Westerner that has serially converted to Tao, then Hinduism, then Buddhism, then Gaia etc.

Too many people are Christians in name Only, and have no biblical knowledge in what being a follower of Christ means. Calling themselves Christians and truly having Christ in their lives are two very different things. We need to educate people about the Christian faith, even if they call themselves Christians.

The Lord said they were not in the faith to begin with. We are just getting down to our fighting weight.

Feel-good, no consequences, God doesn’t judge and neither should you, everyone is going to Heaven Christianity is no better than a positive thinking fad, and fads have shelf-lifes. Its easy to leave a religion that believes in nothing and demands nothing of you.

My church is getting more and more new faces every week. People are hungry for the Lord. True believers are increasing, Christians in name only were never there to begin with.

Ethics: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

Or so says your personal FR page.

So then you turn around and you choose to parrot a poll by the liberal Pew organization peddled uncritically in one of the most avowedly liberal "news" sources on the web?

Projections created by the same modeling techniques used to predict the alleged population explosion in the '60's, alleged global cooling in the '70's, alleged man-made ozone depletion in the '80's, alleged man made global warming in the '00's, allegedly and effectively now-ambivalent man made climate change in the '10's.

The poll conveniently ignores today's explosive growth in Christianity in China, in South America, and in Africa, particularly among those who formerly adhered to Islam. The late Chuck Colson and his ministry routinely pointed to such encouraging signs in spite of backsliding in supposedly "sophisticated" Western liberal media driven cultures -- which is all the effete elites see out of their Manhattan high rises.

When will those calling themselves conservatives stop posting junk modeling from derelict leftists, as though such modeling has ever been right before?

An astute conservative will realize that this is merely another Tokyo Rose moment floated in the media looking for suckers and hand wringers to be played who are naturally inclined toward depression and pessimism.

FReegards!
