After being fired upon, the ship issued a distress call, prompting the United States Navy to direct the destroyer, the Farragut, to the area. The Farragut, the defense official said, is now about 60 miles away. He said that so far there has been no communication between the United States Navy and Iran, but added that American aircraft are standing by to monitor the situation.

Agreed... we could have half the Navy there and our ‘leadership’ would stop them from taking any action that would anger Iran.
Gotta know who your masters are.
Good point!
Observing Iran while giving it “space” “to destroy.” Looks like the destroyer is there to liltingly report the news to world leader constituents.
Along with downing every Iranian aircraft they are stupid enough to fly against it.
All at the same time.
For those not aware, at the end of WWII, the UN granted the USA sovereignty over the "Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands". It's an ENORMOUS area of Ocean larger than the USA and comprosied of dozens of inhabited islands. Everyone on those islands are US CITIZENS, and they use US Dollars, US Courts, etc.
Every citizen is subject to all US laws. Every business too.
This ship was flagged in the Marshall Islands.
It is a de facto US Ship. And the US Navy is obligated to win her release...and all crew aboard.
The White Hut's nonsense not withstanding.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt was supposedly already there.

Hey, you had me at one Navy rapid fire five inch. Just bring candy and flowers, and maybe a couple brewskis. The USS Farragut can sting. And they don’t have to close the 60 miles. All they need is “the word.”
"Could" being the operative term here.
Well it only takes ONE boat to deliver James Taylor to the scene.
a Destroyer...sounds...Good!
Crew of ship seized by Iran is safe, company says, but motive is unclear
“The operator of a cargo ship boarded by Iranian forces as it was traversing the Strait of Hormuz said Wednesday that the crew onboard the ship is safe, but the company is still trying to determine why the ship was seized by Iran.
The Marshall Islands-flagged MV Maresk Tigris was en route Wednesday to Bandar Abbas, the main port for Iran’s navy, under escort by Iranian patrol boats, according to Maersk Line, the company that had chartered it.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif claimed Wednesday that the ship has a history of legal issues, including failing to pay for damages, but he did not elaborate. The ship was asked to come to port, and when it refused, Iran’s navy took action, he said.”
I think that this is an American Flag ship, since it comes from the Marshall Islands.
It is a ship owned by a Danish company, Maersk. Its officers are Europeans and its crewed is Asians. It is registered in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, an independent country. It is not a U.S. ship, either de facto or de jure.

U.S. Navy ships will begin to accompany U.S. flagged commercial ships as they travel the Strait of Hormuz, a defense official confirmed to Fox News, on the heels of Iran seizing a cargo ship.
Fine with me since they are U.S. flagged ships. But the Maersk Tigris was not.
