There's been a lot of speculation about what may have caused the global warming "hiatus" seen over the past several years. Now, though, scientists have found that this slowdown will make no difference to how much the planet will warm by 2100.
"This much hyped global warming slowdown is just a distraction to the task at hand," said Matthew England, lead author of the new study, in a news release. "This shows that the slowdown in global warming has no bearing on long-term projections-it is simply due to decadal variability. Greenhouse gases will eventually overwhelm this natural fluctuation."
In order to separate short-term temperature variability from long-term temperature outcomes, the scientists evaluated 200 climate simulations and projected temperatures out to 2100. The researchers compared the models that captured the current temperature slowdown to those that didn't.
So what did the researchers find? Under the high emissions scenario, the difference in average projected end-of-century warming between the two groups of models is less than .1 degrees Celsius. That's just a small fraction of the projected five degrees warming if emissions are not curbed.

Cue the recent Duke University study destroying the IPCC climate models this article is still relying on.
Who funds this guy's research.
BTW, England's PhD is in Philosophy.
The faithful point to many convoluted reasons as to why warming isn’t happening as predicted; anything except that the otiginal premise may be flawed.
An oceanographer.
18 years is “several” to a leftist.
” They posted the other day the reason for the so-called hiatus was small volcanic eruptions.”
Bimbo eruptions
Small volcanic eruptions are a wash. If volcanic activity is higher, it will also be higher under the ocean. Ocean eruptions warm, while land eruptions cool. Now a major land eruption is a different story.
This is just "policy-based evidence making" at work.
In other words, the government policy is settled. Now all they have to do is come up with some phoney-baloney "evidence" to support it. If the "evidence" happens to have even a smidgen of truth to it, all the better, but completely false "evidence" is good enough to get the job done.
Leftist idiots have no shame.
As someone else pointed out, if the science was settled, there would only be one model.

Global warming is a natural phenomenon, and if we spend all of our energy and resources opposing nature, we will lose.
I see. So their response to the nearly two decades of no warming is to shout, “is too!” and pretend that nothing is happening.
I’m surprised he is willing to admit there has been a “hiatus” in global warming. There are many of the global warming cultists that are still trying to say that even a “hiatus” has not occurred.
This is actually great news.
The Global Warming Cult is now admitting there is a hiatus. This is proof the “science is NOT settled”, as all the global warming models failed to predict it. It simply needs to be pointed out that models that failed to predict temperatures a decade out can hardly be reliable enough to predict temperatures a century out.
