Former President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama.Former President George W. Bush apparently did something over the weekend that is quite rare for him: He criticized his successor in the White House.

According to multiple reports on a closed-door Saturday event with Jewish donors, Bush offered his harshest public assessment of President Barack Obama's foreign policy.

Bloomberg's Josh Rogin reported that Bush said Obama had caused the US to "retreat" around the world and that Obama had charted the wrong course in his nuclear negotiations with Iran

Trying to help a brother out is he?
No more Bushes. Not a one.

No dynasties. Ever.

I might simply say that the Founding fathers really blew that one.
But in all fairness, they had no way to know that...

1. Elected federal officials would no longer (as assumed, reasonably) be educated, sane, and familiar with the concepts of morals and ethics.
2. The incompetent would be repeatedly re-elected, by an electorate even more rationally impaired, and ignorant than the criminal candidates..

Or just maybe this is the first time GW found a reason to disagree.

I know he was being classy all this time lacking any criticism, but the extend of obama’s efforts to destroy our Free Republic, I ain’t buying the above the fray; class act bit.

I disagreed with him about Medicare Part D among other things.
The two things I listed were beyond mere disagreement, they border on treason.

Tell me when Islam has ever been a religion of peace.

Not saying he should have declared war on Islam, he just should not have lied about its true nature.

He also decreased interior and border enforcement from the inadequate efforts under Clinton instead of sealing the border on 9/12/2001 as he should have. How can you secure the country while leaving the back door open and refusing to deport illegal aliens?

His pal Kay Bailey Hutchinson cut the funding for The Secure Fence Act shortly after it was passed.

Bring ALL the characters onto the political stage.

This is starting to feel like a "Green Acres" rerun WITHOUT the talent or the levity.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has built only 32 miles of double-layer fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border out of the 700 miles originally mandated by a 2006 act of Congress, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO). One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchison’s amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.

"He also said the deal would be bad for American national security in the long term: 'You think the Middle East is chaotic now? Imagine what it looks like for our grandchildren. That's how Americans should view the deal.'"

Can't argue with that!

It looks to me like you can make anything happen with the numbers
Heck you can even make Obama king of the deportations.

From the above article:

Moreover, comparing across administrations is not wise given the changes in law and counting procedures.

The current administrations numbers on anything cannot be believed.

They started counting border turnaways as deportations.

That was before he started giving them SSN’s.

I want a President who will enforce the laws, not make them up on his own.

I live in New Mexico...things are not as simple as you would want

Believe what you want

I think GW Bush tried damn hard to wrestle with all things that came his way and refrained from kicking the can down the road

I also think we were fortunate to have him

http://connection.ebscohost.com/world/border-walls/history-border-walls-us-and-around-world

From the above:

The Secure Fence Act, signed by President George W. Bush in 2006, promised 700 miles (1,126 kilometers) of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border; however, lawsuits and protests from citizen groups halted construction. The Sierra Club and Defenders of Wildlife filed a lawsuit challenging the ability of the Bush administration to waive important environmental regulations in order to build the wall on the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area in Arizona. These regulations include the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. In October 2007, a U.S. district court sided with the organizations and stopped construction.

Many members of the Tohono O’odham Nation in Arizona also protest a section of the barrier being built on their reservation, especially since they claim they were not first consulted by the Bush administration. The Tohono O’odham have members who live on each side of the border and consider both countries their home. They value the ability to cross the border unimpeded, but also express frustration at the problems that illegal immigrants bring to their reservation. Bodies are found almost daily, as people die from exposure to the harsh desert climate or are killed by smugglers.

Not really. The WP article doesn't really explain what Obama did. The WP is part of the Obama propaganda machine. "Everybody lies about deportation (sex)."

If you want the real explanation of what is going on, read this: Deportation Numbers Unwrapped Raw Statistics Reveal the Real Story of ICE Enforcement in Decline

I know Jessica Vaughan. She is a real expert on the subject--a fellow former Foreign Service Officer.

Hillary Clinton and Obama signed on to the Secure Fence Act in 2006, just before the midterms. It was overwhelmingly approved with veto proof majorities.

Once the Dems took over Congress, they did everything they could to neuter the law along with help from the RINOs. Bush was not as tough as Clinton when it came to immigration enforcement. Bush supported amnesty twice with the 2006 Hagel-Martinez and 2007 McCain-Kennedy amnesty bills. The 2006 bill passed in the GOP controlled Senate, but was stopped in the House. Bush supported both bills despite the fact the majority of his own party voted against them.

Bush was a big spender who doubled the national debt in his 8 years from $5 trillion to $10 trillion. He doubled the Department of Education budget to support "No Child Left Behind." His Prescription Drug Program was the biggest expansion of Medicare since its inception. It will add $8 trillion to the national debt. He signed the Feingold-McCain campaign finance reform legislation despite stating it was unconstitutional.
