LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- A robber got more than he bargained for this week at a Lynnwood Baskin Robbins when a worker pummeled him and chased him out of the store.
Police say a man wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses walked into the Baskin Robbins Wednesday afternoon. He approached the employee, Rachael Bishop, and demanded she hand over all the money in the cash register.
Bishop refused, so the robber tried to grab the money himself. That turned out to be a mistake, as Bishop began to pummel him with punches to the head.
"I just really didn't want him to take the money," Bishop said. "I love Baskin Robbins and all my customers and I work really hard, we all do. So this is not cool for someone to just steal that and walk away with it."
The stunned robber hightailed it out of the store with the employee hot on his heels. The suspect eventually surrendered to police after they used a police dog to track him down.
The man was able to snatch $280 from the till, but Bishop expects police to return the money.
There's no word yet if the employee will get a pay raise. (Video at link.)
All’s well that ends well, but this was a one-in-a-million story. Lucky the robber was some old white guy who wasn’t willing to use the gun he had. If she had attacked a real thug, she would be dead.
Her boss already praised her actions, but told her to just give them the money if it happened again. Great kid and great advice.
Very, very true and if she does, the enxt time we are in Liberal Madison, IN we will go up on the hill to Dairy Queen instead of downtown to BR.
Really big-time smiley!
