All 15 bison that roamed across a section of town for the past several hours were shot and killed by family members who owned the animals Friday.
The center of attention was at a creek off of Willowbrook Avenue as authorities tried to round up the herd that escaped from a farm in Rensselaer County, crossed the Hudson River and bolted across the state Thruway.
One of the hunters — "hired guns" — appeared to have a heated exchange with Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple after the gunfire started and was taken into custody. Apple said he was concerned about possible harm to people in the crowded area from the rifle shots. The man was later released.

Is it me or is this a little weird?
You know,,, in the game of Bison vs human, we are so far ahead they’ll never catch up.
Sure, guns in a crowd are dangerous, but so are 15 buffaloes on the loose.
We run bison in Wyoming and would NEVER imagine having them around people because they’ll run you down and kill you just for looking at them! Shooting them was the right thing to do if they were loose in a town. No doubt about it!
There should be a lot of BUFFALO Steaks and BURGERS now.
There is another story running in the area that the meat cannot be eaten because it wasn’t killed in an approved slaughter facility.
While I’m not against that based on the comments about the Bison being very hostile to humans, in a city the shot is very dangerous because of the possible humans behind the animal even blocks away.
If the animal kills someone it’s obviously bad because they could have been shot.
If someone is shot mistakenly, it’s bad because the shot should never have been fired.

It definitely can’t be sold but there was a news piece that said they were being prevented from giving it away too. You’re government can never be too protective of you. Sure, they have the occasional missed drone, a little agent orange, the Tuskegee VD tests, not to mention the occasional police officer who might ruin your life, and politicians who spend billions for a job that pays $400K but overall they really care for you.
