McDonald's is closing hundreds of restaurants this year

For instance, earlier in April the company announced it is testing out a larger, pricier, third-of-a-pound burger for $5, two years after dropping the similar Angus burger line because they were too pricey for McDonald’s diners. Despite that earlier failure, new CEO Steve Easterbrook expressed confidence his customers would go for premium burgers.

“I often describe McDonald’s as possibly the most democratic -- with a small ‘d’ -- brand in the world,” he said. “And what customers love the world over, and none more so than here in the U.S., is how they can buy into aspirational quality products, but at a McDonald’s price.”

But he faces an uphill battle in winning over the millions of burger-eaters in the U.S. that have a dim view of McDonald’s offerings: Nation’s Restaurant News published a survey this month rating 111 limited-service chains on 10 attributes including food quality, and McDonald’s was ranked No. 110, ahead only of Chuck E. Cheese. In-N-Out Burger topped the list.

Wow. Judging from the FReeper comments on other related threads, he doesn’t have a clue. He’ll make a fortune when he gets bought out of his contract in a year or two.

People don’t want a bigger burger. McDonald’s was pushing these things today. People want the beef to be the way it used to be. What has happened to it? Is it that they are cutting out all the fat? Or Monsanto feed? Or something else? It’s not just McDonald’s. Beef everywhere turns to sawdust in your mouth.

It's the pink slime they're adding to it.

I’m really lucky to have a Chick Fil A and In N Out within a block of each other, at walking distance. McD’s is only good with their value burgers like the Mcdouble for $1.39. You cant beat that if you’re a student on a tight budget.

It’s more than that. The wonderful sesame beef I used to get at the Chinese restaurant has the same great coating but then turns to something unchewable. Steaks, burgers, they’re all changed. I’ve been searching for articles on this but I can’t find any.

The only 2 things that got going for them is the Big Mack and their fries..... That’s it... The rest of their food is crap...

Greasy lizzard steak hamburgers with soy and conola oil fried cooking... Yuk...

“People want the beef to be the way it used to be.”

Indeed. Nothing worse than a microwaved Mcdee’s cheeseburger that has unmelted cheese and is cold in the center.

They were a good value at 99 cents. At a buck fifty (with tax) not so much. The dollar drinks are a good deal, but people just stop for the drinks, and skip the food, which defeats the point of a loss-leader.
