On your next holiday in Eastern Europe, make sure to include Liberland in your itinerary. In fact, if you wish, you are just in time to apply for citizenship of this newly founded country; you may just become one of the lucky 3-5000 people to be selected to form part of this new nation.

We have a Liberland right here in the good old US of A. All we have to do is reclaim it from the despots who have stolen it, namely, politicians, crony capitalists, leftist media and government educators.

Doesn’t seem quite fair -
They get Liberland and we get Barackistan.

2.52 square miles sandwiched between Serbia and Croatia with 160,000 people wanting to live there is a population density of 63,492 people per square mile.
I like the concept, but not the location. OTOH, there would be a river between this enclave and Serbia, so I am guessing closer ties with Croatia. Croatia might even be smart enough to allow it to exist, understanding the economic benefits of a small independent buffer state populated by John Galt types, better than socialist Serbia.

From the website:
A statement announcing the creation of the new country last week reads, The objective of the founders of the new state is to build a country where honest people can prosper without being oppressed by governments making their lives unpleasant through the burden of unnecessary restrictions and taxes." The countrys motto is: To live and let live. It sounds Utopian, doesn't it?
Hmmm...

The issue is that Serbia and Croatia agreed that their border would run down the middle of the river. The river moved. One country still holds to where that border line used to run. The other country holds to the “middle of the river” definition. Result is a 2.5 sq mi gap between the two as-respected borders, a space which neither is interested in claiming.

They need to buy lottsa guns.

Of late, I’m taking increasing issue with the notion of “want”: if you’re not actually doing _something_ to make it happen, you don’t “want” it. Insofar as “160,000 people want to live there”, nearly 0 of them are actually taking any steps whatsoever to move there, leaving the other 160,000 not actually wanting to.

According to Google maps this is part of Serbia. Yep- I noticed that, too. Also, it's 7 square kilometers and appears entirely undeveloped. I'm wondering if this is a joke or something.

And the way to get the money to buy guns would, naturally, be to declare war on the US.
