The Pentagon is sending a U.S. aircraft carrier to waters around Yemen, following Iran's deployment of seven to nine ships, some carrying weapons.
The U.S. is sending the USS Theodore Roosevelt and at least one destroyer to the Gulf of Aden, said Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren.
The Pentagon also said reports that the carrier will intercept Iranian ships carrying weapons is not true.
"Certainly it's going there because of Yemeni instability, but it's not going there to intercept any ships," said Warren.

Who knows what anti-ship weapons the Iranians have.
This should not be taken lightly.

I wonder what an aircraft carrier might be carrying.
The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt left the Persian Gulf on Sunday and is headed toward Yemen, where there are already three U.S. amphibious ships and two destroyers, CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reports.
The Roosevelt was sent in response to a convoy of seven to nine Iranian ships which appear bound for Yemen and which could be carrying arms.

Reminds me of Gulf War 1 which I was watching closely since my son was there with the 82nd. Just before the land war started, the military was giving a press conference and some press idiot asked. “Can you tell us which Kuwaiti beach you are going to land on?” He was not given an answer to that. Actually we did an end run with the Abrams and Sheridan tanks, and the British Centurions. I have some photos of hundreds of Iraqui soldiers lying in the sand with their hands over their heads in surrender. I think in some cases, our troops just drove on by to where there was real action.

We know the Iranians have been testing against a large mockup.
Makes you wonder what they were testing.
Could China have armed them with something interesting?
Who really knows?
All I know is that I don’t want to hear from some government asshole, “We didn’t know...”
If I’m thinking it, our top level people should be.
