Several prominent Republicans are trying to push immigration restrictionist groups to the fringe of the debate by challenging their conservative credentials and attacking their stance on population control, The Washington Post reports.
GOP heavyweights like Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and power broker Grover Norquist are backing an effort to inform conservatives about the history of groups like the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), NumbersUSA and the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS).
(SNIP)
Those organizations are now the leading conservative voices against immigration, both legal and illegal, and have received the endorsement of Republicans like Senators Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.)

Now Trey Gomez(R-SC) and Bob Gomez(R-VA) run it.
Amnesty cowards know they cannot successfully explain how and why they want to give up our sovereignty for appeasement, so they have to couch their rebuttals to anti-amnesty advocates as their being “anti-immigrant” (LEGAL and illegal). They wrap themselves in America’s flag of past immigration and imply all immigration is good, illegal aliens by default in this case.
It’s called diversion (”squirrel”) and obfuscation.
Bttt
Why is immigration so hard to understand.
We don’t need to kick millions out , we tell them to go back to get a visa like legal immigrants do. There in their own country they might be successful in getting a visa or not but that is what legal immigration is about.
After 6 months you have not gone back then we send you back for you to never return and the border is secured.
and we do not accept the crap abut breaking up families because they did that to themselves.
They all get in line behind the legal immigrants waiting to come here and yes we do raids on restaurants and bars etc if they are found to be hiring illegals like we used to.
They would not be here in the first place if we stopped giving them entitlements, stop ignoring and start punishing employers who hire them, and keep them from getting benefits that should be reserved for American Citizens.
The second thing needed is to end unqualified birthright citizenship. At least one of the parents should have to be an American citizen.
The common sense approach is to stop the influx of illegal immigrants by closing our borders. Deport convicted criminals now filling and overflowing our jails.
And then deal with those already here by taking the time to develop a policy acceptable to the American people and to those who followed the rules (legal immigrants).
Changing the subject with psychobabble will not work, and is unbecoming.
Understood and agree. But recent news reports say that there are over 4 million in line waiting for that chance to come here legally.
Frankly, we don’t need them (illegals) at all, never will.
They already came here without, or overstayed, a visa once. That’s enough reason for them to be sent home.
Agree.
But why not have a points system like Australia.
Only those who have a skill like a scientist etc get so many points.
Many today don’t want to assimilate, instead they want to live with their own language, their own culture and traditions while many want their freebies.
All this pandering makes me sick. There was a time when people respected the laws in the country, today it seems millions do not and that goes for many who are American who want away with all the laws to suit just themselves.
Rubio and Norquist are like Suckerberg and Bill Gates—they elevate illegals over citizens. All of these anti-citizen types should be kicked to the curb.
I agree. If they have overstayed then they are told to go back with everyone else ho is illegal and let the embassy refuse them a visa back in their country.
This of course is after the border is secured and immigration is slowed much more down.
if you can’t respect the very first law which is coming here legally then how can one expect one to respect the rest of the laws.
Lets not forget the chamber of commerce.
A commonsense approach is to enforce our border and our kmmigration laws (while tightening abuses such as chain migration and anchor babies).
To continue to eventually legalize those who manage to get here illegally is not commonsensical at all.
Rubio’s mask does not do a good job of hiding the progressive that lies semi-hidden. Is there a single FReeper who is gullible enough to still support Rubio?
giggle
snigger... gasp.... giggle again...
Grover Nordquisling and Rubio lecturing people on who is "conservative" and who is not.
Too rich.
So what Norquist and Rubio are saying is that these groups were founded by environmental Lefties concerned about the impact of being inundated by illegal immigrants? Well what that tells me then is that this issue has bipartisan support, doesn’t mean I have to support anything else they say. HONESTLY... Jihad Grover, of all people, is shooting for guilt by association, seriously?!
Every time there is an immigration article posted there is no
mention of or even reference to the real problem with illegal
immigration. The real cause and the real criminals in every
case is the criminal employers. It’s the people that hire
the wetbacks that are the biggest problem. They are the ones
with blood on their hands every time an American citizen is
harmed by the wetbacks. If you knowingly hire wetbacks then
you are just as guilty as the wetbacks themselves.
“I’m pro-immigrant” is the flip side of “I’m not racist” in the mindless programming of the American mentality. I watched the Republican candidates debate last time, and they were all terrified that someone would think they were against wholesale immigration, parroting the idiocy about “we are an immigrant nation”. With millions of Americans out of work, you would think that at least ONE candidate would stand up and remind the nation that each immigrant requires a job or taxpayer money which means that an American has to give up a job (since jobs are scarce) or his money.
