Forever a Beatle, Starr will enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist on Saturday, inducted along with an eclectic class of musicians.
Starr, who was previously enshrined with the Beatles in 1988, will be honored along with pop punks Green Day, soul singer-songwriter Bill Withers, underground-rock icon Lou Reed, bluesy guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and The "5" Royales.
When the Beatles split at the height of their fame, Starr decided to take a shot at being a frontman and surprisingly flourished with a string of radio hits, including "It Don't Come Easy," "Photograph" and "You're Sixteen," singles that earned him new-found respect and popularity.
He wasn't the artistic one, but Starr was the first of the "Fab Four" to have commercial success upon going solo.
Starr will be inducted by McCartney, who pushed for the drummer's enshrinement after learning Starr was the lone Beatle not to be honored for his individual music.

Sweaters with boots and bikini bottoms.
Groovy!
The Moody Blues still havent even had a nomination after selling 70 million albums with a couple of them being ground breaking.
What does it take to get a nomination ?
Jann Wenner hates anything prog.
What’s wrong with Green Day?
Yup. It was originally Nile Rodgers (yeah, the dude from Chic and Daft Punk songs) who produced the Bowie album and he thought of SRV, for which Bowie said “yeah, let’s call him”.
It stopped being pure years ago. Now it's all about "inclusion" and political correctness so that every oddball genre, race and gender is represented.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I submit to you for the record these ten examples of inductees: Run DMC; Abba; The Staple Singers; Madonna; Public Enemy; Queensryche; Pete Seeger; Cat Stevens; Donna Summer; and Kiss
I can submit many more but in the interests of expediency, I believe that the prosecution can rest its case on these examples alone.
I think some entrepreneur should come up with a new Hall of Fame for rock and roll music. Call it something else and put it in New York City or Las Vegas, or some other place where somebody would actually want to visit. Not Cleveland. Not Fargo. And certainly not Little Rock.
Start with the basics like Chuck Berry; Buddy Holly; Elvis Presley; Bob Dylan, The Beatles (and not the individual members); The Rolling Stones; and The Who to start. Then very selectively add additional ones.
One important rule. The rock and roll act must have been active for a minimum of 25 years in order to qualify. That will eliminate the "flavor of the day" acts that are forgotten about 10 years later.
The ultimate "Poseur" band.
“Whats wrong with Green Day?”
Billie Ahole is a liberal, anti US military ass wipe who made his music videos of GI’s as idiots. Spoke out loudly against the Iraq War and transferred that hatred to his videos.
They suck.
At the annual one day feel good meeting for those with annual passes it did come up in the discussion meeting that members thought it was outrageous that the Moody Blues aren't inducted. Assurances were given, but still no nomination. The R&R HOF is kind of a joke. They have a real thing against true traditional rock and favor commercially successful garbage.
JMHO
I did like when they fell into the poisoned lake in The Simpsons Movie.
I suspect Joan is more bisexual then full-on lesbo.
“The Moody Blues still havent even had a nomination after selling 70 million albums with a couple of them being ground breaking.

Apparently, his Rolling Stool magazine doesn’t like truthful reporting about rape either.
Only if they generated a lot of merchandise and ticket sales. And a lot of .325 hitters with 500 HRs would be omitted.
Slim pickings these days.
How so?
“Billie Ahole is a liberal, anti US military ass wipe who made his music videos of GIs as idiots. Spoke out loudly against the Iraq War and transferred that hatred to his videos.”
And which member of the so called Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is different?
Answer: none.
Indeed, He had a strong following in Cleveland, back in the day.
