Senior Republican Sen. John McCain blasted Pentagon officials on Friday for dramatically downplaying the role of Ramadi as the key Iraqi city stood on the brink of being taken over by ISIS.
"Disregarding the strategic importance of Ramadi is a denial of reality and an insult to the families of hundreds of brave young Americans who were killed and wounded during the Surge fighting to free Ramadi from the grip of Al-Qaeda," McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in a written statement released by his office, which was later joined onto by Repbulican Sen. Lindsey Graham.
McCain, using a different name for ISIS, charged that the "current U.S. strategy is to defend an oil refinery in Baiji, but abandon the capital of pivotal Anbar province to ISIL."

And the Senate, in fact the entire congress is in denial of Obama and his mission!
I find myself regretting that two of my sons have joined the military when this nation elects leaders that assign their lives so little value.
They’ve collaborated with him on so many things, it’s not “denial” but collusion.
This coming from McCain who made ISIS what it is? That’s rich..!
So WTF are you going to do about it, John?
That’s what I thought. Nothing.
Thanks for the reping. It’s quite appalling that the Obama Administration is doing nothing about the crisis.
A black day. And McCain is as responsible for it as anyone on earth.
Certainly more responsible than anyone in the Pentagon. They serve their civilian political superiors in the White House and in Congress, of which he is a prominent member.
Don’t fret, it’ll get much worse before we get our next President.
