A Bush-Rubio ticket? Improbable but not impossible
CSM (Yahoo) ^ | 16 APR 2015 | Linda Feldmann

Former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio are both from Florida and could make for an effective GOP ticket. But the Constitution makes things tricky.

When political handicappers blue-sky about the 2016 GOP presidential ticket, they generally rule out an all-Florida ticket – former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio. There are constitutional reasons that make it complicated but not impossible. And in some ways, a Bush-Rubio ticket may make sense.

Let’s start with the positives: In a competitive presidential race, the Republicans cannot win without winning Florida. It’s the third most populous state in the country, with 29 electoral votes. It’s also the biggest battleground state.

So if you absolutely need Florida, why not double down on “Florida-ness”?

And don't tell me that you are principled and would stay at home waiting for another Reagan to come along, like some did in the last election and gave Obama another four years

That has really gotten old.

The GOP has a choice: nominate a real Conservative -- or watch about ten million people stay home.

I will not vote for the lesser of two evils. Not anymore. And a lot of people feel that way. I voted in 2008. I did it in 2012. Won't do it again unless I really want to.

GOP better smarten up.

So if it came down to a choice between Rubio and Clinton in the general election, who would you vote for? And don't tell me that you are principled and would stay at home waiting for another Reagan to come along, like some did in the last election and gave Obama another four years in which to further destroy America. We can't afford Hillary Clinton, who'll do more of the same. I would vote for Rubio in a heartbeat to keep Hillary out of the White House.

But seriously, I'm keeping my powder dry for Cruz-Palin.

Hey, SoConPubbie! We've got a live one here! "I'm keeping my powder dry for Cruz-Palin"; that's a dead giveaway! GOPe Troll potential!

So, HotHunt, I see you signed up in 2012. Tell me, how much is Priebus paying you to post on Free Republic? Just wondering...

And who are you? And who is SoConPubbie? And why are you attacking me? You come across as an intolerable liberal who attacks others when they don't agree with you. How much is the DNC and the democRATic Underground paying you to harass legitimate FR members? Or are you the gay mafia because I won't bake your wedding cake. You act like it.

I've been a regular lurker and browser on FR since c.2001 when I was working full-time and some golf buddies turned me on to this site. I finally signed up as a member in 2012 after I retired and had open heart surgery and had much more time to spend on the computer. I support the site with a monthly contribution. I've been a conservative since I was in the Air Force in the early 70s. I was a registered Republican and voted Republican from 1972 until I registered as an independent in 2004. I have never voted for any democRAT candidates or supported any of their policies, state or federal. But I don't believe in not voting.

I like Ted Cruz a lot and would vote for Sarah Palin if she ever ran for office again. My Cruz-Palin comment was made tongue-in-cheek because I know Palin won't be in the race. That seemed to really bother you. Why, I don't know. But if Cruz is not the candidate, I would vote for anybody but a democRAT. Life is about choices. I would make that choice.

You, on the other hand, belittle people like myself who are willing to speak their mind but ironically, you never say who you would vote for. Why is that? Who is your candidate? Do they exist? Do they have an actual name? And, if so, how does your support of them differ from my choice?

To get attacked by people like you who don't know shit about me must be embarrassing for you. You sound like you have an inflated view of your own self-importance. Somebody who thinks they are in charge but are nothing more that a bully. Sticking you foot in your mouth is not attractive. Best to know what you're talking about before wasting your ammo.

To wait for the establishment GOP to change their ways to support your demand to "smarten up" could take many years, if ever.

So why don't you get off the couch and form a conservative party and get your conservative candidate on the ballot? I would vote for them. In the meantime, I will not default to the radical liberal candidates because my "perfect" guy is not put forward by the GOP.

I used to be like you the last two elections. I voted for the GOP elite candidates that always lose. But, I voted. I am tired of holding my nose only to lose.

Not anymore. I will not do it again. They will lose anyway, and if they win, they will be almost like the jackass Obama.

Probably a disgruntled Romney-bot whose ass still hurts because conservatives at FR wouldn't vote for her guy. 6 paragraphs in her defense? I do believe she tried a bit too hard to be convincing. If I had a dime for every time I heard a troll say they are a long-time FReeper but just lurked for 11 years...anyway. And she called me a prick because I wouldn't engage her? It sounds like this troll and I have crossed paths before. Clearly not worthy of your or my time.

Cheers.

I disagree.

The right has won no elections where the winners were almost like Obama. No one has ever been like Obama. At least they loved America. At least they were not deliberately trying to destroy country. At least they didn't weaken our military and convert it into Barry's Gay Bathhouse. At least they didn't embrace our enemies like Iran and Cuba, while throwing our long-term allies like Israel under the bus. At least they didn't throw the US Constitution in the toilet and become wannabe dictators. At least they acted like presidents of a republic instead of a king of a monarchy.

I chose to be be proactive and not passive, just waiting for things to change, if ever. There's never been a GOP candidate I voted for since the early 70s that was perfect. But I voted for them. The democRATS seem to accept their flawed candidates. And they will continue to win if the right just sits back and lets them.

Sorry, the amnesty supporters and stick it in the eye to the base of the GOP by people like Jeb, are not on the side of Americans. They are on the side of those who have abused our laws and are ruining this country.

I will not support that anymore.

Jeb hasn't even announced he's running yet. Rubio may be pro-amnesty so don't vote for him. But unless I'm mistaken, Cruz isn't for illegal amnesty. So why not consider him?

The alternative is to do nothing and watch the enemy within take over the country and "fundamentally transform" it. Trust me, if you don't like it now, you definitely will like it even less when the Marxist left is done with us.
