GLAAD Gives Failing Grades to Sony and Disney for (not having enough) Gays in Film
Hollywood Reporter ^ | April 15, 2015 | Gregg Kilday

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender characters may be showing up on television with increasing regularity, but they are still a relative rarity in mainstream movies released by the major Hollywood studios. In its third annual report about LGBT representation on film, GLAAD, the gay advocacy group, found that of the 114 releases from the major studios in 2014, only 20 of them, or 17.5 percent, included characters identified as lesbian, gay or bisexual.

Among the inclusive films, the report found, 65 percent of them featured gay male characters, less than a third featured bisexuals and about one tenth included lesbian characters. There was a slight increase in racial diversity with 32.1 percent of the characters being people of color, compared to 24 percent in 2013. Of the 28 characters GLAAD counted, 19 were white (67.9 percent), three were black/African-American (10.7 percent), two were Latin (7.1 percent), and four were Asian/Pacific Islander (14.3 percent).

> I hardly ever watch network TV. Just History Channel, DIY, Speed , Discovery and NFL network.....................

That definitely limits the number of show where they feel it necessary to showcase their homos with the exception of the NFL network...: )

GLAAD can take a flying leap and as for saying there is not enough homosexuals!

First Disney is supposed to be for children, but to say there are not enough is ridiculous.

I remember how much praise was heaped on Brokeback Mountain. Nominated for some Oscars including best picture. Critics loved it. But, didn’t do so well at the box office. And I don’t think there have been any major movies since with such an explicit homosexual plot.

Bottom line is that people really don’t want to see a “cowboy romance” where 2 dudes are involved.

How do the activists reconcile their desire for more homosexuality in movies with the reality that there is not a mainstream audience for such movies???

Funny, because I was starting to watch NCIS New Orleans last night and it opens with a scene in which a father desperately tries to stop a car jacker from leaving with his baby in the car.

Cut forward to the next scene and another fellow shows up, desperately insisting he lives in the same house.

He is allowed to pass and sidles up to the first guy, whereupon they reveal “This is my husband...”

Deleted right there.

THAT population is most often quoted at 3%. 17% seems WAY over represented.

I did the same thing!!!

Scandal was a good show too. Until they pushed the whole gay meme to having two guys strip naked to discuss a subject that might put either in jail.

They demanded each other strip naked to ensure neither was wearing a wire.

Upon revealing themselves naked, they stood staring at each and suddenly jammed each others faces together to swap spit and go at on screen.

Now, they had been pushing the whole gay marriage meme for a few episodes but, after that, I removed them from my DVR recording and never watched again.

Even DIY Network and HGTV have had shows featuring homosexual couples buying or renovating homes. But the shows are out of Canada..................

And whatever happened to the sequel, Oklahomo?

Not to worry. They will make you watch the movies. Just like they make you bake the cake.

They will make you care.

NCIS-New Orleans last night was the latest to cave.

That was a foul and disgusting story line ... I bailed out and watched "Ancient Aliens" on Netflix ...

You know back then it was all about for the gays and some others to “leave me alone and get the government out of my life, I have the right to be with any adult I wish” and right or wrong it was a fair argument, we are not Iran we are the US and people have the freedom to be with any adult that chooses to be with them, however that is not what is going on now. What is going on it is all about making society accept them and include them when there is no need for it, for its the militant gays that are being the wankers about it, instead of maybe just living their lives and making sure society leaves them alone which is a better option.

They should have 2 queers in every hundredth film. That would be commensurate with their NORMAL occurrence in society.

"activists reconcile"

Well, that's their conceit...they seriously believe that they have the majority of Americans convinced that homosexuality is the same, as normal as heterosexuality. The reality is the great majority of Americans, even those who support all the homo approving laws of the last twenty years, find it revolting.

The other day I was reading an article about a homosexual activist named Larry Kramer who wrote the play "The Normal Heart" which was about the AIDS crisis in the 80s among the male homo community. And to be sure HBO made a movie after the play.

But he was upset with Barbra Streisand because Babs, a huge supporter of homo causes, said one time she found overt on films or tv homo behavior disturbing. And Babs has a homo child I believe.

If arch-liberal Barbra Streisand finds homo behavior disturbing, how many more libs find it disturbing? I'd say quite a few.
