Mystery of the 'alien' signals solved: Baffled astronomers trace source of noise to the observatory's kitchen MICROWAVE
Strange signals, known as perytons, originated near to the planet Scientists could not explain where they were coming from for decades They replicated signal by opening microwave door while still running
For years, scientists have been trying to uncover the source of mysterious radio signals being picked up in Australia.
Theories have ranged from evaporating black holes to extraterrestrial communication and mergers of neutron stars.
Now researchers at the Parkes Observatory claim they have finally found the source of these 'alien' signals - in their kitchen microwave.
Scientists knew the strange signals, known as perytons, originated somewhere near to the planet, but they had no idea just how close.
In fact, the microwave was next door in the staff kitchen and visitors centre at the observatory.

This calls for a “Far Side” cartoon by Gary Larson!
So what is your plan? Hide in your closet?
DANG!
Glad they figured it out. I wonder if the the legendary “WOW!” signal will be found to have a similarly mundane origin.
You had me really lol on that one.
Kind of like Raising Arizona meets US Naval Observatory.
I keep saying most of our science/tech/medicine is a game/tool of the elites, but I’m the “crazy” “luddite”.
As far as “research” goes... If you know the outcome you want, you can pretty much always produce it after enough effort, even if you didn’t produce it.
Hah, medicine.
You find out about the red yeast rice yet ?
They did. He was the one making nachos.
Reminds me of a story about a company that was having severe network issues in a couple of buildings on thier corporate campus. Seems that at 4:45 just about every day, they were experiencing a sudden drop on their network. Everything would crash to a screaming halt for a few minutes then come right back up.
After the network guys had beaten their heads against the wall for weeks trying to locate the source of the problem, someone noticed that a helicopter was apparently coming in to land on a helipad, and its approach just happened to cross directly in front of a microwave link between two buildings.
After all this time, their worst fear has come to pass. The humans they’ve been trying to communicate with each time they inserted organic entities into the box have mistaken the aliens for a microwave! Their mission has failed! No one will bother to try decoding their messages anymore! How utterly tragic. Only on THIS world could such stupidity prevail.
for tomorrow - snicker

I have an LED light bulb that I got to try in my track lights. Cant listen to AM radio anywhere in the house when the lights are on.
CFL’s are worse RFI emitters
Course ot. Like everything else, you need to do the research and make the best informed choices you can.
Honestly you dont have to go through life as a sarcastic jerk.
I couldn’t listen to my weather radio with the lamp on. A Feit bulb from Costco. Called the company. Sure enough, on the label in small letters lower corner it states may cause interference. Took the bulbs back.
Bought Cree bulbs at Home Depot. Problem solved.
Might try a Cree bulb.(made in USA, btw)
Got it - wanted to post my own can-opener comment but opted to see if anyone beat me to it.
please see above!...
Settled science.
