When Hillary Clinton steps off her road-trip van on Tuesday at a rural Iowa community college, she might not be greeted by cheering throngs.

The outlook isn't sunny for the kickoff of her 'listening tour': Of the ten student interviewed in the school's public lounge, only two would speak kindly of Mrs. Clinton.

'She's going to push some emotional thing on us,' predicted student Hallie Corum in between classes. 'What else is she supposed to do?'

As a young twenty-something I got to ask then Vice President Bush a question on national television at one of these “listening sessions” in 1987. Heady stuff. Meanwhile, I was guarding Air Force 2 at night at the Des Moines Air Guard base (as a state employee) and working for Al Haig’s campaign in my spare time. Kept me busy.

If she wants to be a leader, shouldn’t we be the ones “listening” to her ideas and vision? After all her time in whatever, doesn’t she have a general idea of what she thinks the problems are she wants to fix, and what her plans for fixing those problems are?

If she is the one listening, is she actually just a follower? Of college students no less?

That’s what I say, Mike. Hard to believe this question will actually see daylight. Of course, the leak of this question is an advantage to avoid a sandbag, WHICH SHE NEVER GETS.

It’s already certain that Podesta is serving up confirmation (over a few media dinners) that media access to Hillary will be severely limited— to the few and the chosen and confined to private homes and private meetings where all smiles exist in a vacuum. There is now talk about how the media will respond to this set up, if the chosen don’t follow the campaign line and get ejected and replaced.
