That's the truth! My husband had a serious auto accident several years ago and was in Erlanger in Chattanooga for three weeks. My daughter and I went there twice a day. At the time they were doing a lot of highway work and we were detoured a different route almost daily. One day we got off the detour route accidentally and ended up in one of the black neighborhoods that has a terrible reputation for drive-by shootings, etc. There were grown black men sitting around playing music and just socializing in the streets. We saw two cop cars idling at the curb so we stopped to ask how to get to Erlanger from there. The cop (was black) told us how to get there and then said "you ladies are in the wrong neighborhood and need to get out of here as soon as you can". I knew we were in one of the bad neighborhoods but didn't know how we got there or how to get out. It could have ended badly for us. We were both 'packing' but were very outnumbered.
The gunman may have assumed he was the drivers kid? Shot him as revenge?
Maybe a neighbor kid. If so, there may be another shooting soon.
The shooter was probably shooting gangsta style, missing a lot.
There are always more than enough visual cues to alert you that you are leaving civilization...
Which is more irresponsible, 40 in a 25 or leaving a 2-year unattended to wander into the street?
