Youre just not as tuned in to the frightening realities of the world as this kid is. A Brown University senior wants everyone to know that hes not weak for wanting safe spaces where he wont feel offended or uncomfortable its just that hes smarter and more culturally aware than you are so you wouldnt understand.
In response to an article that a classmate wrote that criticized safe spaces, Joseph DiZoglio writes: The current rally that generational pundits make against me and my peers in college today is that we have forsaken freedom of speech and multiple viewpoints for comfort. Im afraid that it is a product of jargon that is too easily mistranslated by opinion columnists hoping to pass a deadline, he continues in the letter, a portion of which has since been published in the Wall Street Journal. If delved with any honest intent into the vast discourse of social justice, they would see how far from the mark they really are.
Now, you might think that a kid who criticizes columnists for using jargon right after using a phrase like generational pundits wont be capable of teaching you anything worthwhile. But DiZoglio assures you that any disagreement that you have with him is just due to your ignorance: When I say your argument makes me uncomfortable, it is because I am greatly concerned that you have not done the requisite thought and research into generating an inclusive thesis that considers as many nuances as necessary to deliver a sound debate, DiZoglio writes. If you do not believe that skin color, age, religious identity, sexuality, class or (dis)ability have an effect in cultural political or economic problems that we debate at universities, then it is you who is trying to remain comfortable despite such frightening realities.
Got it, people? Youre just not as smart and enlightened as Mr. DiZoglio is. And if you think that college kids demanding safe spaces are wimps who could never make it in the real world, thats because you just dont understand the actual real world. If only you knew as much about the frightening realities of the world as this bright young Ivy Leaguer. How kind of him to be greatly concerned for big dummies like me! Despite having pumped his letter full of words he learned on thesaurus.com, its clear that DiZoglio has no idea what hes talking about. There is only one thing that he gets half right: He finishes the letter by asserting that being uncomfortable is the strongest form of rhetoric that our millennial generation wields in the struggle against all forms of oppression. Just replace the word oppression with discussion, and hes right on the money. (By the way, that wouldnt even be a huge leap considering the fact that college students have referred to common expressions like you guys as oppressive.)
These days, whining and playing the victim puts you in a greater position of strength. Its a way to gain influence, respect, and power without having to actually know anything. After all, if someone dares to question a cultural sensitivity or pro-diversity activist, hes labeled a racist bigot, an evil old white guy who spits on the poor, or if he dares to challenge a feminist a rape apologist. Knowing that anyone who tries to argue with them will be attacked is also how these people are able to casually spread false narratives (like we see with much of the campus-rape discussion) without having to actually prove anything. DiZoglio understands all of this.
You may be tempted to think that none of this matters because hes just some college kid; but before you say Haha, wow, just wait till this kid gets to the real world, ask yourself: What will happen when kids like him are the real world?
Non e Italiano vero. Lui e mutanto.
Phew, an entire generation of no-balls whiners attempting to silence all opinion that disagrees with their miniscule amount of life experience. These idiots have been led to the false belief they are instant masters, but in reality the only thing they are masters of is something they’d best not show in public.
Please allow me to provide a complete translation of the kid’s entire letter:
“If you disagree with any of my opinions, it is because you are stupid and I am way smart.”
“If you do not believe that skin color, age, religious identity, sexuality, class or (dis)ability have an effect in cultural political or economic problems that we debate at universities, then it is you who is trying to remain comfortable despite such frightening realities.
What ever happened to studying and drinking?
Obviously this “intellect” has spent a lot of time being thoroughly brain-washed, arrogant bastard that he is.
Amen
Glad I’m old and live in the woods. Lotsa safe space out here in the country.
WE ARE ALREADY REPEATING HISTORY BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN INUNDATED WITH BLAH BLAH BLAH AND WORDS WITHOUT MEANING NOR DIRECTION
“Non e Italiano vero. Lui e mutanto.”
Maybe his mother was French? Although the French have started to grow a pair in the last few years.
“This is what happens when everybody wins, everybody gets a trophy, and nobody loses. You have children who have been raised outside the framework of this thing that theyll have to deal with when they graduate college.”
I agree with that and was about to write virtually the same thing. Unfortunately today when they get out of school, they immediately believe the government will be there to tuck them in each night. They all need a good dose of my dad’s favorite comment: “toughen up”.
- Joseph DiZoglio jr -
All that is missing is his coffee cup and onesy pajamas.
Got it, people? Youre just not as smart and enlightened as Mr. DiZoglio is.

The default leftist position.
They won’t get jobs nor keep jobs. This is a fad that is handicapping all who embrace it.
What a twink.
Is that Marie Harf?
Precisely. His misuse of language creates confusion for his reader. Throwing words into a pot and stirring does not create clarity. It simply leaves the reader unclear as to the writer's intent. For example: If I say, "It was intentionally deliberate for me as per the consequences of the issue to propose solutionary responses." You have no idea what I am saying. I have deliberately used words in a way that confuses rather than clarifies. I might better have said, "I really tried to offer helpful ideas." One is pretentious. The other is sincere.
Came across this post right after the reviewing the post of the day’s news from 70 years ago in the New York Times. The whining little sh*t from Brown would profit from some sense of perspective - millions of soldiers and tens of millions of civilians, most innocent, suffering under the most horrible of deprivations, and not one word of “safe spaces” from people who certainly would be justified in longing for such.
When it comes to a life of ease, and liberation from any substantial concerns, it’s hard to imagine a better situation than that of a college student in 2015. How pitiful one must be to conjure up the complaints of this worthless piece of manure.
French mother? Then he is truly a mutant. The only thing wrong with the United States of America is that not enough Italians came here.
What will happen when kids like him RUN the real world?
