NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the National Bar Association are calling for the immediate arrest and indictment of a North Charleston police officer who responded to the shooting of Walter Scott. Officer Clarence Habersham was the officer on scene after Michael Slager shot and killed Scott.
According to the group, Habersham filed an incomplete police report on the shooting of Walter Scott and left "material facts out of his report."
Habersham gave the following narrative in a North Charleston Police Department report that was released to the media:

My family and relatives aren’t crooks, or criminals with records, so myself and my kin have nothing to worry about. How about yours? This guy had about 10 charges against him at least, and two of them were assault related. And he ran. Why did he run? Because he didn’t want to end up in jail again. Instead he ended up dead. Bad tradeoff.

You have a collection of video’s of police shootings and beatings that you frequently watch? Do you have every kick, punch and baton beats of Rodney King’s beating memorized? Do you have a framed photo of Vicki Weaver being shot by a sniper while unarmed and holding her child? Did you add a laugh track to the video of the Miriam Carey being shot by Whitehouse police?
Did it send shivers up your spine when you watched the video of the 33 year old Charleston cop gunning down a 51 year old pudgy black man waddling away as fast as he could? Did the officer who dramatically paused, took careful aim with a double cupped grip and present his profile to the target and squeezed off the ‘kill shot’ into the man’s back, arouse you?
Take the guns away from 50% of the cops. That will give them a much needed attitude adjustment. While we’re at it, lets do away with no knock 4:00 am warrants, cavalier asset forfeiture. Confiscating of and never returning legally owned guns, Harassing witnesses for taking cell videos, setting up confiscation road blocks during regional crises, and choking to death scofflaw violators.
I’m afraid your psyche is an unhealthy one regarding police. Very unhealthy. And your tirade here is just not normal. End of conversation. I don’t think your lid is screwed on right.

Since, in this Scott shooting, there aren't enough verifiable facts for you to pound away at one way or the other, you're resorting to just pounding the table.

Scott was in full retreat and no further danger to the cop. The officer stopped firing and took deliberate aim for a kill shot. As far as the taping goes there is a map of this chase that went for some distance. The person taping couldn’t see or had no angle prior to them entering the videoed area.
FWIW the cop missed with three rounds. What if they hit an innocent bystander ALA NYPD tradition.

Still doesn’t change the fact that Scott was shot in the back while retreating. That is clear. Unarmed and out of shape 50 year old guy was to much for a much younger cop? Please.
