Consumers in Australia flocked to Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) store in Sydney on Friday to get the world's first up-close look at the tech giant's smartwatch, which the company expects will be its next runaway hit.
The Apple Watch, CEO Tim Cook's first new major product, was available for pre-order online and to try out in stores - but not take home.
On April 24, consumers will be able to buy it online or by reservation at retail locations including high-end fashion boutiques in Paris, London and Tokyo, part of Apple's strategy of positioning the wearable computer as a must-have accessory.

Though we generally associate FUD with Microsoft these days, it's origin actually predates them by a fair bit. The term was originally coined about IBM, in relation to their other mainframe competitors. I'll probably get it wrong, but I think Honeywell was one of their big competitors at the time (50s-70s).
Samsung alone makes more phones than Apple, so that chart is way off base... unless it’s representing dollars.... which might be ok since Apple overcharges so much for their junk.
Who the heck want another device to recharge everyday! Not me.
We’re not talking about the obsolete and non-smartphones that Samsung makes, but the SMARTPHONES ... Apple only makes smartphones ... :-) ...
And that chart for units sold IS ACCURATE!
Apple is the LARGEST MANUFACTURER of Smartphones in the USA. In addition to being the largest manufacturer of smartphones, in units sold, Apple also has 93% of the profits in the Smartphone market, as compared to ALL the other manufacturers of smartphone “put together”!
I'm talking smartphones too... and recent numbers. Go look at Gartner or someone reliable.
That was the USA and it is accurate, but Samsung’s fortunes are declining worldwide, too, and Apple surpassed Samsung in the worldwide sales, with Samsung declining ...
Led By iPhone 6, Apple Passed Samsung In Q4 Smartphone Sales, 1.9B Mobiles Sold Overall In 2014

In a period when overall there were 367.5 million devices sold, the iPhone maker overtook Samsung to sell the most smartphones in Q4, selling nearly 75 million devices compared to Samsungs 73 million. While the margin between them does not seem particularly wide it works out to a difference of 0.5 percentage points its a significant reversal for the two.
Samsung - 308K
Apple - 191K

You can see it here ...
Company — 4Q14 Units — 4Q14 Market Share (%) — 4Q13 Units — 4Q13 Market Share (%)
Apple — 74,832 K-units — 20.4% — 50,224 K-units — 17.8%
Samsung — 73,032 K-units — 19.9% — 83,317 K-units — 29.5%
Same source and article that you have ... showing Samsung declining and Apple taking over ... :-) ...
The iphone6 came out in September, so of course they had a good fourth quarter. Every Apple customer was compelled to buy a new phone during that quarter (in their never-ending quest to get something that approaches decent). Only looking at one quarter is the same sort of self-deception that climate change alarmists use to claim that numbers for a sliver of time represent some sort of big trend.
Samsung has been declining in sales over the last six quarters ... they’re on the way down ... because other manufacturers are horning in on their low-end market ... :-) ...
which only works 18hrs per day and then needs to be recharged...
I am sick and tired of hearing about the transgender gay outreach at Apple. Last week I stomped my iPad to bits and gave my iphone 5 to a wino, this homeless dude. From now on its Samsung and LG for me. I will never fork over money to the Cupertino fudge packers.
Back in the day we just them trannies. People like Tim Kook.
I guess that shows how much I’ve paid attention. “Iwatch” probably doesn’t have the appropriate connotations they watch to convey in a name. Sounds more like a device they’d use when Clinton stayed over at “Pedophile Island” : )
Obviously your life is meaningless without making insulting, meaningless remarks on Apple threads.
Yes, it was. . . just not from the same source. Your post was almost identical in content, coming from the same common source. If was redundant. All of the quoted material was identical to the earlier post and all of the source material came from the same press release. Redundant. YOU got your panties in an idiotically tight wad because I pointed out to 700 plus members of the Apple ping list that your posted article and thread was a secondary thread to an earlier thread where people were already making comments on the subject and linked to the original thread. Your article added NOTHING new to what was in the original thread.
Do you think this is a private forum where you post in a vacuum? It is a PUBLIC forum, Berlin. I pinged some people who you have interacted with in the past.
The Apple Watch is not released yet. There is no Apple Watch to download any apps onto yet. You fact check like an idiotic Liberal. Apple has announced there will be over 1000 apps available when the Apple Watch is released on April 24th. Get your facts straight. . . and quit trying your damnedest to make me a liar. I do not lie. . . and I am certain of my facts. YOU are not.
You peddle half-truths like a Liberal. The "fact" I challenged was the claim that there are hundreds of apps, waiting for you in the app store right now. Are there?
That chart represents phones sold in the US . . . so you are wrong. The fact is that Samsung is LOSING market share all over the world. In the last quarter of 2014, Apple made MORE phones than did Samsung, and ALL of Apple's phones were smartphones.
Samsung's product mix in 2012 WAS only 30% smartphones, 40% feature phones, and 30% basic dumb phones. . . and they are making far fewer smartphones now as a percentage of their product mix. Last listing was only 19%. These are facts. You REALLY don't know what you are talking about.
Gartner is the one who is saying that Apple is outselling Samsung in the US. Sorry, you lose.
