“It was Walter Scott who turned the encounter into a physically violent one, not the officer.”
That is what the cop said and we know that he is a liar.
The whole thing has me confused, Why, Why,
You can't tell from the video whether or not it was the Taser. It does appear that he drops something.
As Scott breaks away and starts running, an object is tossed back behind them onto the grass on the far side of the walkway. Slager then shoots Scott and comes over to him and handcuffs him. Then Slager jogs back across the walkway and appears to pick something up before returning to Scott, who is now being examined by the second officer. It is at that point that Slager drops an object at the scene, in the presence of the second officer.
Santana the videographer reports, "I remember the police had control of the situation. You can hear the sound of a Taser ... I believe [Scott] was just trying to get away from the Taser."
So, it seems likely the object Slager retrieved was the Taser, and that he felt that having it found arguably in possession of the deceased would better serve his story.
It would also be interesting to hear the second officer's account before he learned of the video.
Betcha that generated some “seatcover biting”.
A first year deputy DA could get a murder conviction with an all white jury.
There was no excuse for what was on that video. None.
Did you happen to notice how the cop tried to plant evidence after he shot the guy in the back?
Or is that not an admission of guilt in your book?
Look, the investigators already have his statement, and they have the video. They know most everything that occurred and if any inconsistencies exist.
Just speculation, but what might have hung the officer is they obtained his statement within a few hours of the incident. The video wasn't known to exist until days later. If he fabricated anything they would have known that as soon as the video surfaced.
I'd like to see his statement.
As with Ferguson, Police Departments seem very slow to come out with even rightful defense info for shooter cops.
They’ve had everything they’re going to get here. There is no more evidence to collect.
BTW, I think Brown incident was a good shoot based on evidence, that the suspect was coming at the cop after already attempting to kill or beat the cop in his own car.
Did you not watch the new video?
Suspect was just sitting in his car (after getting out earlier and being told to get back in) while the cop was at the police vehicle. Out of camera but likely running the plates or calling in when, all of a sudden, the suspect just leaps out the door of his car and takes off running. Up until this point, the cop has shown all proper decorum.
I do not know why he ran, but I'd bet my bottom dollar he would still be alive if he hadn't.
Still a bad shoot and by all available evidence murder....but why run?
I repeat....stupid, stupid...by both parties.
Wow. That was a hell of a beating.
Delivers 650,000 volts to an attacker and keeps your phone charged in the bargain.

Bet a cup of coffee he had or thought he had a warrant. People run all the time. Millions have warrants, some think they do. Most are relatively insignificant. Depending on the venue, some run just out of fear. I can assure you if he was wanted for something violent like armed robbery we’d all know it.
From what I've read, he did have a warrant out and was well aware of it.
But what did he think he would gain from running? Did he honestly think he would get away?
Isn't there some point where you just say, "That's it...you got me"?
Still no excuse for the shooting...but for crying out loud!
I dunno, we can't ask him.
Again, people run for all kinds of reasons. Most because they're scared and stupid.
Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
Having watched a lot of Cops I missed the episodes where they empty their magazine into the back of someone fleeing from a traffic stop.
