Don’t try to excuse the cop. What is shown on the video was MURDER.

But assault on a Peace Officer is. Is there any evidence that he assaulted a peace officer?

Oh, I don’t believe you have a friend, and certainly not one named Troy... Your just making it up.

“or evidence”
There is evidence and we’ve all seen it...

Doesn’t matter WHY he was running away; he WAS running away, therefore there was no immediate threat to the officer or any body else. I have yet to here about the criminal who can outrun a police radio. Unless he was armed and a wanted dangerous felon, there was no good reason to shoot him.
A police officer is only supposed to shoot to eliminate a threat, where was the threat?
In my opinion the cop lost his self control, panicked and committed a murder.

The concept of shooting a fleeing suspect for committing a violent crime when there is no supportable evidence that he poses a continued threat is not the accepted standard. If the suspect grabbed the officer's weapon, taser, or baton and the officer shot the suspect in the process of that fight then that standard would be met.
Even if this DOJ opinion is correct the officer will find it difficult to meet that requirement.

No argument here.

Then the police made a mistake when they watched the video and charged him with murder.

In fact, the question wasn't about the man at all: it was about the fact that this is national news and on everyone's radar. Why? Because he's black. This is national news because of the video , and everyone witnessing a murder by watching it.
Post 4 shows why it is national news, the video.

The video clearly shows the cop dropping the taser next to the body.
The two things we do know is that the cop lied and the video tells the truth.

Probably the same one. In the phone video, the cop did drop what looked like the taser beside the perp. I heard that some see taser wires connected to the perp as he was skidaddling.
Could be more to this story than what the dash cam or the guy with the phone cam caught. Maybe there was a confrontation not on one of the thus far shown tapes, but still this cop was in deep dodo for 8 shots to the back of a guy clearly running away, unless he was running to pick up a Tommy Gun out of view.

Just curious, has it been confirmed it was a taser he dropped?

Still don’t agree it was murder. Excessive force to fire after Walter Scott stopped attacking the cop and trying to take the taser, so maybe manslaughter but not murder. It was Walter Scott who turned the encounter into a physically violent one, not the officer.
I would feel safer knowing my daughters were with that cop than with Walter Scott.

There is nothing else it could be.
