On Wednesday, First Lady Michelle Obama addressed a gathering at the White House that focused on the topic of creating opportunity for Native American youth. The White House posted her prepared remarks online.
The full speech, as posted by the White House, can be read by clicking here. Here is an excerpt from the First Lady's remarks:
You see, we need to be very clear about where the challenges in this community first started.
Folks in Indian Country didnt just wake up one day with addiction problems. Poverty and violence didnt just randomly happen to this community. These issues are the result of a long history of systematic discrimination and abuse.
Let me offer just a few examples from our past, starting with how, back in 1830, we passed a law removing Native Americans from their homes and forcibly re-locating them to barren lands out west. The Trail of Tears was part of this process. Then we began separating children from their families and sending them to boarding schools designed to strip them of all traces of their culture, language and history. And then our government started issuing what were known as Civilization Regulations regulations that outlawed Indian religions, ceremonies and practices so we literally made their culture illegal.
And these are just a few examples. I could continue on like this for hours.
So given this history, we shouldnt be surprised at the challenges that kids in Indian Country are facing today. And we should never forget that we played a role in this. Make no mistake about it we own this.
And we cant just invest a million here and a million there, or come up with some five year or ten-year plan and think were going to make a real impact. This is truly about nation-building, and it will require fresh thinking and a massive infusion of resources over generations. Thats right, not just years, but generations.
Kind of like how the left demands that no images of Indian history are celebrated by sports teams.
That’s the same thing she wants to do to Christians, btw
Yes, Poverty at this scale DID NOT happen overnight, it took 40 years of LBJ’s ‘Great Society’ and $8Trillion to buy this much poverty
White people should be put on Reservations. How about everywhere south of the Mason Dixon extended to California?
Then we began separating children from their families and sending them to boarding schools designed to strip them of all traces of their culture, language and history.
A practice the left continues today.
Good grief.
She gets her history books from Noam Chomsky and other biased and lying sources
Did she Google this ?
Bet there were a few Dems involved, after all they had plenty of experience from the way they treated black people via Jim Crow.
Ypu. Look at all those white Cavalry Troopers:
And they’ll deny that that’s what they’re doing even while the trains are running to the camps.
Michael (or Michelle), Not to worry. Before your old man and Valerie Jerkoff — er Jarrett — are done, this country will BAN the perverse cult known as ISLAM!
All the truth in Black and Whitey
Some Indian tribes are doing very well, due to development such as casinos and resort hotels .
Is this an attempt to start a liberal monologue, along the lines of other liberal talking points? We will dredge up the sins of the past and yack endlessly about how people were victims ??
Heck maybe we will even see liberals.talk of reparations for Indians, similar to talk of reparations for slavery.
PREP FOR **REPARATIONS**
Sacagawea is on the dollar coin , but do you use it , nope

“Whats her point?”
To stir up discontent.
