Ted Cruz's Fundraising Hauls Are Off The Charts

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) – the first Republican hopeful to put his name forward – has long maintained that only by mobilizing the conservative grassroots can the GOP hope to reclaim the White House in 2016. He has explicitly said that primary-goers looking for a candidate that will toe the party line, and buckle to the whims of the establishment, should look elsewhere. As a result, he has pledged not to fund his campaign with funds obtained from lobbyists or crony capitalists, and therefore must tap into the generosity and support of ordinary Americans to get his campaign off the ground.

Lets be clear...these are conservative super PACs raisng money not Ted Cruz.

Cruz will not be directing them or cordinating with them, unless he wants to run afoul of federal law.

“Ted Cruz’s presidential effort is getting into the shock-and-awe fundraising business.

An associate of the Texas senator, a recently announced presidential candidate, tells Bloomberg that a cluster of affiliated super-political action committees was formed only this week, and among them they are expected to have $31 million in the bank by Friday.”

Holy!! The Establishment will be pulling their hair out in panic!

“So I’m counting on you to stand with me by pledging your most generous contribution to this effort. The political world’s eyes will be trained on me and it’s crucial I make a statement no one can ignore.”

If I can't raise the money then Jesus is taking me home...

I thought that I would amass all the news I could that updated us on Cruz’s fundraising efforts. I am glad this topic interest you.

This is examiner.com

“What’s more, it looks like Cruz is picking up establishment money support, at least insofar as his super PACs are concerned.

“According to a person familiar with the workings and financing of the new super-PACs, many of the donors are former backers of George W. Bush and Perry. Bush’s brother, of course, and Perry himself, are seeking the White House now, which makes Cruz’s coup that much more impressive. A Houston-area associate of Cruz’s has led the effort to pull together the donors, many of whom are Texans and New Yorkers...
“As Red State notes, super PACs are a way for candidates to compete with opponents with more established networks of donors, i.e. the Bush family. The huge infusion of cash means that Cruz will have plenty of money to run ads while his official campaign concentrates on the ground game. Cruz is hence well on his way to becoming one of the last men standing as the primary season grinds along, provided the money is translated into votes.”

“In addition, Cruz’s team is aiming to hire key grassroots activists in major states around the country to build a groundswell of support for his presidential campaign, rather than bring in political insiders. That way, in each key state, Cruz has devoted and loyal supporters fighting for him and his message, rather than just for a paycheck.”

Reminds me of another fella. I worked on his campaign, too.

It is still early, and we have a lot of ground to cover between now and when the primaries get going. On the money front, we need to be able to compete with Jebbie and company.

Though we don't need to out-raise Jeb, we do need to be able to withstand the media and advertising onslaught, when things get underway.

True. Ted and team have complete control over the funds contributed directly to their campaign.

There is only one thing that kept Obama in the white house and will put Hillary in and that’s voter fraud. I don’t care how much money anyone has for advertising. Vote fraud will always win. I hope some republicans in charge of some state houses and AG positions remember this.

Connolly had a fortune in 1980 and ended up with one delegate at the convention.

It’s the Secretaries of State more than the AG’s. That’s why that evil demon Soros made such an effort to buy state SOS elections.

No. Not really. The one thing that really grates me on FR is the delusional and outright denial of reality when it comes to a campaign. Remember those sad Alan Keyes supporters? Despite tons and tons and tons of evidence he was going no where, Keyes' supporters were certain he would win. And they were just shocked when he lost.

I write this as a Cruz supporter, but I would never compromise my intelligence with feigned, feckless denial of reality and that there may be others qualified, too, such as Walker.

See, I can spell his name and acknowledge his presence and actually type that I think the major hurdle to Cruz winning the nomination is Walker.

Yes, I remember. I was one of those sad Alan Keyes supporters. I thought he could have won, if the base had supported him, and if he could have raised more money, and if the GOP-e had not blocked him from the debates, ... if whatever else.

I don't feel so bad about that, because there were plenty of people who thought Bob Dole could win, and McCain, and Romney, and GHWB, and farther back, Ford. GWB barely won, running against a tree.

I don't discount Walker. The GOP-e would support him. He's got that flip-floppy, pandering style that the establishment so adores. We'll see if they can drum up enough money to get him through the primaries.

Just anecdotal, but a liberal leaning person I know on Facebook made a whole long post on “OMG who would vote for Cruz!” I was pleasantly surprised when 8/10 of her friends said they liked him! She was shocked!
